Angry Left Shoots itself in the Face

"When you have no coherent philosophy and are merely a oleaginous agglomeration of multifarious and clashing anger-fueled agendas, such self-defeating stupidity is the inevitable result."

I find it amusing when the left ends up shooting itself in the face or exposing one of its legion contradictions.  The latest inanity is the temper tantrum boycott of Koch Industries, which will only harm unionized workers.
As an American company, Koch Industries employs over 50,000 Americans. In total, the number of American jobs that indirectly supported Koch Industries is over 200,000. In Wisconsin, Koch Industries provides nearly 3,000 jobs directly and 11,000 jobs indirectly. More importantly, many of those jobs are good-paying union jobs. So, why all the hate?(United Steelworkers Defend the Koch Brothers)
Here are excerpts from United Steel Workers international vice president Jon Geenen defending Koch industries:
The company’s workforce is highly unionized. In fact, 80 percent of its mills are under contract with one or more labor union. It is not inaccurate to say that these are among the best-paid manufacturing jobs in America.

This presents a dilemma and a paradox. While the Koch brothers are credited with advocating an agenda and groups that are clearly hostile to labor and labor’s agenda, the brothers’ company in practice and in general has positive and productive collective bargaining relationships with its unions.

While some companies are running from investment in American jobs, The Koch brothers’ Georgia Pacific just reached agreements with its primary union in the paper industry to invest more than a half a billion dollars in capital to essentially create two state-of-the-art machines that conserve fiber and energy at two separate union mills.
His bottom line? He might as well scream out to the lefty nutballs, “What the hell are you doing!?”

The "working man" is just a talking point for the left
If you claim to be for the working man, trying to close down American manufacturing is a poor way to show it. When you have no coherent philosophy and are merely a oleaginous agglomeration of multifarious and clashing anger-fueled agendas, such self-defeating stupidity is the inevitable result.

  1. It all comes down to one thing. The liberal progressives can talk all they want about how they are for the working man, but that is only the case when it suits their agenda.

  2. The working man, that is who they were looking out for when they bailed out Wall Street and raised the cost of living with insane energy policies. Sounds about right.

  3. "This presents a dilemma and a paradox"

That line should read; This presents a dilema in that it is a paradox.

  4. I loathe when the left uses the "working man" approach, but then on the other hand, they really do shoot themselves in the foot with that one, because we know the left does not work, at least not for the people.

All people that work are the "working man" or "working woman." I didn't realize there is another kind of working anything - unless of course they consider themselves so elite, which they do, that they do not want to be ascribed with the people that are paying them to work for us, which they do not.

Completely disgusting leftard! Hey, I was looking forward to that article today!!!! Change your mind? ;-)

  5. Silverfiddle, I'm glad I was directed to your blog. Your page on libertarianism is excellent, and I'm going to direct other libertarians (or people who want to learn more) to it.

Regarding this particular post, I'm not sure I can write off American liberals as being inconsistent or incoherent in their ideology. Geenen is just pointing out that he doesn't agree with the Koch's libertarian political views. That's no different than trying to decide whether to support a candidate with whom you only agree with half the time.

  6. People disagree with the Koch brothers politics. Is that so hard to understand?

By the way, does anyone here know why my blog was attacked and taken down (it will be back up shortly)?

  7. Layla,
I've got the article ready, I'm just not ready to pull the trigger. I tentatively have is scheduled for Sunday, when I normally post religious-themes pieces.

I am still vacillating. I don't attack other bloggers and this could be construed as such. We'll see.

  8. Country Thinker: Thank You! I am fairly new to libertarianism myself, so I thought I'd throw something together for others.

    Jersey:

Disagreement is easy to understand. Trying to shut down their industries, which employ union-member workers is not.

As to your blog being attacked, of course I know nothing about it.

You know what a champion of free speech I am. Attacking others' blogs is abhorrent and un-American. Anyone who engages in such activities is no friend of Western Hero.

I hope you find out who did it, and I hope you recover quickly.

  9. I would never think you would do such a thing, Silver. I was just curious if I really upset anyone around here. This sort of thing happens once in a while.

Thanks for your concern, and yes, it was reopened. I don't really care who did it.

In a free society people are free to boycott private enterprise if they so choose. Whatever. I can't even imagine how one would go about boycotting a massive institution like GP, let alone how it would have any effect other than to agitate the Koch brothers.

  10. The lefties should have someone read to them "The Goose that Laid the Golden Egg" and then explain it to them.

  11. @Silverfiddle. I will be looking for it. And I am not into this "attacking other bloggers" business. If they are wrong, and you say so, go for it. This holier than thou mantality that one cannot point out anothers wrongs, only their own is nonsense. I do not even care if you criticize me. I welcome it. I look at these things as a learning tool, a gift from God. We are to be open to see how we are viewed and perceived and then be honest with them and ourselves. We may not always agree, but there is nothing wrong in speaking what you believe to be true and you are convicted to write it. Beleive me, I prayed before I wrote my article, but I believe the Lord lead me to do so and my words were guided by the Holy Spirit. You are free not to agree with me, but I know how the Lord dealt with me. So please, do pray over it before you publish it so that when you do, and someone rebukes you for it - you will not feel guilty, but instead, like King David be able to say that you can walk in your integrity.

    Just my two-cents!

  14. The Left love the term, "working man" in order to manipulate people and dupe them into believing they give a care about us.

I trust nothing the liberals have to say. Never have, never will.

  15. Woman who honors thyself, you said, "The "working man" is just a talking point for the left"

    Oh yeah?

The working man is a person who tries really hard every day to make ends meet. They work in your grocery stores and restaurants, your quarries and factories, your schools and police and fire and emergency and school bus driver jobs, your road crews, your prisons, your water and environment departments, your on and friggin' on and friggin' on.

    You live in a CIVILIZATION.

The "working man" is not just some f'n p!@$e of $#!^ leftist rhetoric. He's a good man, and your neighbor.

  16. Aren't we all mostly working men, and women?

Is the labor of the accountant on the 27th floor any more or less than the labor of the man digging the ditch out front? Even the CEO works for and at the pleasure of the board.

They are all good men and your neighbors.

The difference is that pretty much any able bodied person can dig a ditch. If everyone graduated HS with the skills of a CPA, CPA's wouldn't be making any more than the laborers.

WHT's point is that the left attempts to pit the man digging the ditch against the man keeping the books.

The point is that the left (and I will also say right) paints its enemies with a broad black brush. Until we get away from needing an enemy to fight against, we will never be able to successfully fight 'for' anything.

So ask yourself, left or right, who are your 'enemies' and are they really so?

  17. This reminds me of a news story i heard on the evening news. Apparently Shell is considering closing one of their big refineries here because they just cannot compete with the mega-refineries in Asia. The unions off course are saying may could lose their jobs, but you think they'll even consider a pay cut.

I have a feeling when that time comes, they'll fall back on the old, zero job is better than a low-paying job.

The left are only for the working man in that they want him on a bicycle cycling to the local market to sell his produce from his subsistence farm.

  18. Rich people are "working men" too. That's how they got rich.

  19. The Koch brothers have every right to use their money for causes they support as well as Soros does. The difference is the the way they made their money and how many jobs has Soros created?
At least the Koch brother help the economy instead of trying to destroy it

  20. A very long time ago I started my career as an entry level engineer. I eventually worked my way up to a senior corporate executive position (job). By that time I was working sixty hours a week or more and traveling on wekends. But I guess I wasn't a "working man". The left and the union bosses won't be happy until all businesses are owned by the state. I wish these folks could come down here to Venezuela and see how that is working out.
