Occupy Free Stuff!
James Taranto wrote a piece in the Wall Street Journal about OWS entitled, What Anarchy Looks Like.
It's not a good idea to feed wild animals. "Coffee cart owner Linda Jenson and hot dog cart operators Letty and Pete Soto said they initially provided free food and drink to demonstrators" at San Diego's Obamaville encampment, reports Los Angeles's KNX-AM. "But when they stopped, the protesters became violent"The KNX link describes how the feral pigs stole from them and vandalized their carts with blood, urine and graffiti. Now they are receiving death threats. Good citizens of San Diego are having a fundraiser to help them, but business owners around the nation are having similar experiences with OWS people.
This reminded me of a video I saw a few years back about illegal immigration. I don't quite get so worked up on the subject as this guy, but it is funny (F-bomb alert!). Reading the Taranto piece reminded me of this video. I think it applies more to the self-entitled moochers and freeloaders squatting in Occupy encampments across America. At least the illegal immigrants are working...
Well, casting all pretensions to dignity, erudition, fair-mindedness and elevated social status aside, I gotta tell ya, "I fuckin' LOVE this fuckin' guy.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Silver that name at the head of your column is actually Deadbeat Wasteyourmen Schitz -- a throwback to the loudmouthed guttersnipe Red Diaper School of Communist Revolution if ever there was one.
That said, all the illegal immigrants I know are working their asses off at menial jobs, and giving excellent service in return for whatever compensation they get. From where I sit they are a BOON not a BANE. Real life experience -- not theories and statistics produced by academicians in ivory towers -- has proved that to me conclusively.
I'm sorry to have to say it, but most natural-born Americans would perform these tasks -- if you could get them to consider performing them at all -- with a grudging, grasping attitude determined to screw you out of as much as they can get for putting forth the least amount of effort possible.
The tarantula in the ointment with both the illegal immigrant workers and the growing number of unskilled, under-educated, unenlightened, unmotivated underclass is THE WELFARE STATE.
The illegal immigrants who come here only to make trouble and take advantage of Democrat-Mandated "Free Stuff," as you put it, would NOT come here if there WERE no free stuff to grab.
The promise of Living on Largesse provided by American Taxpayers draws the saddest, weakest, laziest, most pathetic, most criminally inclined i.e. the most undesirable elements -- like the proverbial magnet.
Liberal social programs have created, expanded, and perpetuated the very social problems they were supposedly initiated to eliminate.
The corollary to the problem of welfare-dependent illegal immigrants is, of course, the enfeebled, permanently dependent state of our native-born underclass who has been indoctrinated by the policies Dictocrats fervently to believe they are entitled to feed at the Public Trough from generation to generation simply because they have needs.
If this isn't Marxism at work, I can't imagine what would be.
The charmingly uncouth example of Bedrock America in the video is dead on target with his Bird Parable.
If you don't want to get smothered in turds
Don't overindulge them fuckin' birds.
Folk wisdom of the highest order. I love it. I love it. I love it.

I'm glad you liked it. I don't like gratuitous public use of vulgarities, but I think he used it well to get his F'ing point across.
ReplyDeleteAnother incisive report. Maybe we can look a little deeper at #Occupy.
ReplyDeleteHas it attracted hangers on, bums, unstable individuals? Yup. And that is certainly all you will focus on either by intent or due to a pathology.
But what else is in the news? The Keystone pipeline just got blocked. Could that have happened without the #Occupy movement? I don't think so. The protesters at the White House who have been showing up for some time did gain visibility and clout.
They are also much more equivalent in scope to the Tea Bag movement and managed without violence or trash or vulgarity or any of your other hobby horses.
Next is the move to withdraw money from large banks and get the capital working in neighborhood credit unions for the good of families and local businesses.
Is the democratic control of capital a serious topic. I think so but the right would have to get its collective head out of Herman Cain's butt before we can ask it.
What next? General strike, withdraw labor. It almost happened in Oakland and it's certainly the classical Marxist response.
But I think the ultimate would be to disown debt. Shut off the main highway of wealth transfer. That might prove interesting.
The point is you can belittle as much as you like. Who has crappy degrees, who's a real American, who "knows" economics and history ... the usual suspects. But the movement is real and your pithy little videos are more proof that the division is not one that can be broached by civil discussion.
It's going to take a world wide ugly to resolve this and you will undoubtedly be the absolute first to self absolve from blame.
Interesting article.
ReplyDeleteThis had me rolling:
"We found it populated mostly by innocent and well-intentioned, if confused, young people. Then again, that's how "Lord of the Flies" began."
I think the video guy is what-we-used-to-call "The Genuine Article," Silver Fiddle.
ReplyDeleteI've known plenty of people who wouldn't say "shit" if they had a mouthful of it, but their hearts are as black as a pair of hip rubber boots. Pharisees all.
It's possible to be prim, proper -- and perfectly poisonous -- all at once. Nothing is more offensive than a venal pretender to moral superiority who covers his essential viciousness in a veneer of simulated virtue.
Normally, as surely you have seen by now, I avoid vulgarity along with buzzwords, catch-phrases and current clichés, as much as possible. Every once in a while, however, a healthy dose of good-natured, uninhibited commonness is downright refreshing -- especially in an atmosphere where vainglorious posturing and preposterous pretensions to priggishness and prudery too often predominate over plain-spokenness.
In short the Truth is the Truth no matter how ill or awkwardly phrased. The opposite is equally true -- even when expressed in delicately phrased terms exhibiting elegant eloquent erudition.
I hope, however, that my main point about Welfare Statism being the root of most of our current social and economic problems does not get lost in the high-spirited imitation of the video's vivacious vulgarity?
Secondary issues bordering on the sensational too often upstage substantive argument.

Ducky, the problem is OWS is not a movement but a mob.
ReplyDeleteOWS is united in anger, not in goals.
For instance, the NYCGA declaration is a list of grievances, not a platform.
http://www.nycga.net/resources/declaration/
Where OWS fails in their own declaration is here: "create a process to address the problems we face, and generate solutions accessible to everyone."
There are portions of the declaration I can accept and there are portions that I find highly questionable. The OWS base is a splintered and fractionalized movement that just happens to be protesting in the same place at the same time.
One of the latest polls I could find was the UMASS Lowell poll conducted with the Boston Herald.
http://www.uml.edu/docs/UML%20NAT%20OWS-TP%20-%20TOPLINE%20w%20crosstabs_tcm18-38503.pdf
Overall, the majority view is one unfavorable towards OWS, the Tea Party, Corporations, and Government, in that order.
The one thing we have in common is that we are all pretty much pissed off.
Until OWS can formulate a logically coherent platform they are unsupportable for any use other than venting anger.
Why haven't they? My personal viewpoint is that OWS is to diverse, any attempt to conceptualize their goals would result on them turning on each other and they would disintegrate.
Cheers!
"Overall, the majority view is one unfavorable towards OWS, the Tea Party, Corporations, and Government, in that order."
ReplyDeleteDidn't come out quite the way as intended... I should probably state "from lowest to highest".
"Has it attracted hangers on, bums, unstable individuals? Yup. And that is certainly all you will focus on either by intent or due to a pathology."
ReplyDeleteDucky,
You make a good point. Selecting the most flamboyant examples of misconduct engaged in by a few, and attributing them to an entire movement is atrocious -- and yes "pathology" is an appropriate word for it. However, tactics like that have been standard operating procedure particularly from the left since Marxism first reared its ugly head.
Unfortunately, this is what opposing political forces do today -- they continually engage in libel, slander, deceit, exaggeration, distortion, misrepresentation, character assassination and occasionally violence -- because the concept of fair play has been killed off.
Apparently, it has been ever thus.
"The partisan, when he is engaged in a dispute, cares nothing about the rights of the question, but is anxious only to convince his hearers of his own assertions."
~ Socrates (470-399 B. C. )
Your case would be more persuasive if you abided by the same standards you would lay down for those with whom you disagree.
That's true for everyone. The mutual griping and sniping is tedious and gets us nowhere.

PS: What wereyou thinking of the other night when you made a most peculiar and inappropriate reference to the value of "my" car versus "your" art work? I've never mentioned my car, but for the record I've entered the final phase of a three-year lease on a Honda Civic -- the cheapest use of a new car I could get. A car to me is nothing more than a necessary evil -- certainly not a status symbol. - FT
>the movement is real
ReplyDeleteYes, bowel movements are real. And look at what they create.
Draw whatever inferences from this you will. I believe it's meaning is clear. Naturally, I think it pertinent to this discussion (many others we've engaged in as well) or I wouldn't post it. I'd be interested to know how strikes you.

..... Bolshevism Revisited .....
A Leftist caught in doubt
Lifts up his head to shout:
Your treatment is unfair,
You bully! How you dare
To question my veracity
With cruel, hard-eyed tenacity
I do not know. My views
Which boldly you accuse
Of being falsely ranked
In truth are sacrosanct.
My thoughts are Holy Writ.
Your thoughts are quite unfit;
Based on selfish fears
They inspire tears
And dare to say the blame
Lies squarely in the frame
Of those whose failing lives
Look to him who thrives
And say: Your gold is mine,
You greedy, bloated swine.
You have more than you need.
It's up to you to feed
Me, the ill and weak,
Else Heaven that you seek
Will ever be denied.
And I will see your hide
Shredded, tanned and dried.
And hung outside the gates
Of each neighborhood that hates
The needy and the poor,
Who soon will storm your door
And drag you from your bed
And then lop off your head.
While the masses you denied
Will ever take great pride
Your ignominious demise
Was effected in the guise
Of condign righteous wrath
Giving Bourgeois digs a bath.
With stolen food and goods
We'll raze your neighborhoods
And laugh to see you hurt
Dying in the dirt.
WE DO NOT CARE TO RISE;
We live for your demise.
We thrive on righteous hate.
It is by now too late
To make a plan to stop us
End the Founder's opus.
Our Marx destroyed your God.
He's in - not on - the sod
Feeding nematodes
In their dark abodes.
With mockery and shrill
Sarcastic gibes we kill.
We drool with sheer delight
At the thought of endless night.
Where everything that's witty,
Charming, gracious, pretty
Slumps to the nitty gritty,
As we revel in the dung
Corrupting all your young.
For 'we are the little folk, we
Too little to love or to hate.
Leave us alone, and soon you will see
How quickly we'll drag down the state.'*

It's definitely time to take down the bird feeder. As a matter of fact, I read that there were less immigrants coming in these days; how they know that is beyond me...but I think some are starting to see the bird feeder isn't so full anymore.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, my favorite name for Debbie is Debbie WasserPERSON :-)
Very PC !
I think you'll find that the #Occupy movement doesn't need to do much more than channel the anger. The cops will ably assist in that.
ReplyDeleteSuccess with environmental issues is going to create a loop. Watch the Delaware River Basin fracking protests.
>I think you'll find that the #Occupy movement doesn't need to do much more than channel the anger.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll find that the #Occupy movement doesn't do anything other than channel the whining...and filth...and rape...and theft...and murder...and every slimy and moronic thing possible.
It is kind of funny watching Ducky, the OWS scum, and the like romanticizing revolution, though.

Anyone gonna watch the Republican't Debate on CBS on NOW?
ReplyDelete~ FreeThinke
I watched the debate, FT. It was a joke as usual. The only difference between Obama and the GOP bench, when it comes to expeditionary military policy, which is what this debate was all about, is the name. Obama? Or whoever.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think Obama is better than any of them.
JMJ
Good for you for watching it, Jersey.
ReplyDeleteI was pleasantly surprised. Not one of them made an ass of himself. All maintained their dignity. All had ready answers, presented what they had o say articulately without stumbling.
John Huntsman impressed me as particularly intelligent, pleasant dignified articulate and reasonable. He's awfully mild-mannered to be our Commander in Chief, but at least he's not a fool or a swaggering braggart.
Bachmann is 55 years old and the mother a a gazillion kids, but you'd never know it. She looks as glamorous and as well put together as one of the great super models from the past. Very tasteful! Classy. Understated attire. Discreet hair style. She also spoke clearly, directly and succinctly. You may not agree with her, but she really seems to know her onions, and she doesn't equivocate. Good show!
Herman Cain is as sharp as a tack. He's ready with an answer to each and every question, and talks straight from the shoulder, and tells it like he thinks it is -- no BS. He comes across as fearless, decisive and willing to act quickly after consulting with trusted experts.
I'm one of Ron Paul's biggest fans on domestic issues, but he does seem incredibly naive about the diabolical nature of what we face in the Middle East. I can't imagine his being our Commander-in-Chief. On the other hand I'm very much against our marching into other people's countries and meddling in their affairs.
Romney presents himself well as always. He's good looking, poised, articulate, but I can't believe he's sincere. I'm afraid he'll say what he has to say to get votes, and the do just the opposite -- don't they all?
I've always like Newt Gingrich. He would make a fine president, because he's very very smart, very well informed, full of intelligent, creative ideas, and comes of as always prepared, decisive and on America's side and no one else's. Some say he's a One Worlder, and he has been known to consort with Bilderbergers, members of the CFR, and other groups that fall under the aegis of The Illuminati, but just about anyone who is anyone belongs to one or ore of those organizations. It's unavoidable if you walk in the Corridors of Power.
Newt would be my choice, if it were up to me. I'd feel very sorry for President Sambo, if he had to debate Newt in public. It would be like pitting a dormouse against a lion.
Rick Santorum -- I always want to call him Rick Sanitorium -- it's a just a terrible name for a president -- is a stand-up guy, very nice, not bad looking, but he seems naive and has never appeared very intelligent to me.
Now Rick Perry surprised me tonight. He seemed more poised, more in command of himself, his material and in better rapport with the audience than I've seen him before, BUT he's just a little too slow witted to be our president. Good looking dude for sure, but he'd make a better model for menswear in a mail order catalogue than our national CEO.
The only sour note tonight was See-BS's news anchor Snot Smelly. His arrogance, overt hostility and determination to dominate the scene were truly obnoxious. All I could think every time he made one of his rude, all-to-frequent interruptions was "GOD! I'd like smash that conceited, self-important bastard right in the kisser."
It would be useful if President Obama were required to debate each of these Republican candidates one-on-one on national TV every other week.
Any one of them could make mincemeat our of our poor benighted POTUS.
Still, with belligerent bullies like Snot Smelly squarely in Obama's corner fighting to belittle his opponents every step of the way it will be hard to unseat President Sambo, despite the wretched state we're in.

What those cart owners found out the hard way is supposed to be common sense.
ReplyDeleteIt's to be expected though, the msm seldom show these vermin out to be what they really are, so how would a cart owner know what he's getting himself into giving freebies to these pieces of shit.
Hey jersey, nothing to say about the cart vandalizing? Or are the cart owners now part of the bastard 1%.
"The Keystone pipeline just got blocked. Could that have happened without the #Occupy movement? I don't think so."
So the cart owners are just the few eggs for that glorious omelet eh ducky?
The only farcical thing about the debate, Jersey, was bossy, arrogant, hostile, blatantly biased Scott Pelley.
ReplyDeleteDod you realize that Ron Paul -- who, like him or not, has a tremendous national following -- was given only 90-SECONDS worth of face time in a 90-MINUTE debate?
See-BS is a preposterous exicse for a "news" organization; it's nothing but a propaganda mill for crypto-Marxists.
