Barry Plays Dress Up, Again

We're all laughing at Obama
First, Obama wanted to be Abraham Lincoln when he grew up. Then he laughably compared himself to Ronald Reagan. Now he’s playing dress-up again, this time as the Rough Rider, Teddy Roosevelt.

Teddy Roosevelt was a tough, self-made man who was forever seeking out ways to challenge himself physically and mentally. He was a conservationist, a crime fighter and war veteran. Barack Obama is an effete metrosexual who has had everything handed to him on a silver platter.

A banker grandmother who funded his private schooling, an Ivy League education paid for by others, a political career in the corrupt Chicago sewer, where well-connected crooks took care of the competition for him…

Teddy Roosevelt, born into wealth, went out west to toughen himself up, fought in the Spanish American war, and once sparred with a professional prizefighter, damaging his eyesight in the process. The closest Obama has come to matching TR’s impressive tough guy record is occupying a bank lobby and fighting for more government money for the various agitation groups he was a community organizer for.

Obama’s only accomplishment is hoodwinking enough Americans to vote for him by promising billowy nebulae of Hope and Change and promising transformative leadership. He hasn’t led and he hasn’t been transformative. Those on the disappointed left will tell you he's George Bush without the flight suit.

Obama and the Pelosicrats serve up these absurd and ridiculous comparisons because it’s all they’ve got. No economic freedom, no hope, no change, no jobs; just more of the same with a corrupt Chicago spin.

  2. I was thinking about Teddy Roosevelt recently. Robert Henri's painting "The Coal Breaker" is going on display locally and it has to be understood in terms of the 1902 coal strike in Pennsylvania.

Sympathy had swung to the miners after the owners spokesmen stated that that the miners had mistakenly put their trust in the union, rather than in Christian men, like himself, whom God had given control over the nation’s property interests. The Baggers of their day if you will.

Roosevelt managed to get both sides into arbitration by approaching J.P. Morgan and the miners came away with a raise but no change in working conditions and no recognition of their union.

Roosevelt's success in kicking the can down the street is certainly similar to Obama's.

Of course Roosevelt's passion for war manifested itself in a ginned up imperialist operation that led to an ugly ugly series of massacres in the Philippines, so he may be closer to Chucklenuts Bush in that regard.

C'mon Ducky, you're too smart for such a gratuitous comment. "Baggers of their day?"

That was a common attitude among the movers and shakers back then, and it had nothing to do with left or right and everything to do with the industrial age, and progressives caught the same spirit.

Progressive patriarch Woodrow Wilson was a warmonger, locking up Americans who disagreed with him, so you can can the "bagger" crap.

  4. History remembers Theodore Roosevelt kindly, but I believe undeservedly so. There is a connection between Barack Obama and Theodore Roosevelt: they both adhered to principles associated with National Socialism.

As a people, we seem incapable of learning lessons from history —even comparably recent history. One might recall, for example, that other national socialists were in charge of Germany, Russia, and in China. Today, national socialism hides as a chameleon in plain sight as the American progressive movement, usurping what was at one time, the Democratic Party. Today, National Socialism is the controlling force behind the European Union. Let us once more consider these words by men who, unlike politicians today, spoke plainly. Vladimir Lenin told us, “The purpose of socialism is communism.” Norman Thomas predicted, "The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."

  5. Mustang, what we all have to remember now is comparisons to socialists fly pretty well in America these days; today, it's a GOOD thing because people still think it works and would work here because "we'll do it differently":-) (Tho it's never worked anywhere for any length of time)

Silverfiddle....I guess when you can't stand on your own laurels, you have to start evoking other more successful presidential names.

By the way, who do YOU think paid for his expensive ivy league education?

  6. I'm afraid that if Barry goes the populist road he will win reelection.

It worked for Truman in '48. All barry has to do is keep repeating the "fat cat republicans" and "tax the rich" meme and people will vote for him.

  7. By the way, who do YOU think paid for his expensive ivy league education?

I don't know. I am not a birther, but I suspect he may have played the Indonesian Muslim angle (or whatever) to get some kind of foreign minority scholarship and grant money.

We all know how the liberals love to decorate their college campi with a skittles bowl of racial, religious and sexual diversity.

Being a straight-up smart black student no longer cut it by the late 70's, you needed an extra-exotic flavor to tantalize the guilty while liberal palettes that control access to our institutions of higher learning.

I think it is an accurate comment.

I'm not sure where you stand, you're elusive and often thoughtful but there are several blogs you post on who believe just that. I suspect mustang is the most immediate example although his blog is gone.

  10. I certainly can't speak for everybody, but I haven't run across much tea party sentiment that "God had given control over the nation’s property interests" to corporations.

The problem with unions and corporations is the same: They are both in bed with big government to the detriment of our personal freedoms.

Both should be untethered from mama state's apron strings and allowed to stand or fall on their own.

  11. Silverfiddle, private sector unions have been decimated. They are no longer a force in American labor and we see the results(negative I might add).

You skirt the critical issue of the belief in American exceptionalism and Founding Oligarch worship. This Puritan belief that America is the nation of the elect and that God has nominated the captains of industry to rule is rife in our government and at odds with democracy. In fact democracy is impossible in a Calvinist laissez-faire system.

Until we trash this idea and all its disgusting jingoism this country goes nowhere. As we decide between the Black Messiah and the latest passenger on the Republican crazy car we are only deciding about the speed of the decline.

  12. This Puritan belief that America is the nation of the elect and that God has nominated the captains of industry to rule is rife in our government and at odds with democracy.

Well, I know many of us believe that God blessed this country, but the second part, about God nominating the captains of industry...

You just don't hear that in tea party circles. This is the first time I've heard of it, actually. I know I don't believe that, although both government and corporation sure do act as if they believe it, don't they?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Silver, couldn't you have at least tried to actually make the comparison between what Obama is trying to do and what Roosevelt did and tried to do as President? And what's this fascination with "tough guys?" Fighting in easy wars and killing animals for sport may be a little tough, I suppose, but hardly are they qualifications for President! TR was a historian, a conservationist, relatively progressive (especially for his time), and a statesman. He was also instrumental in the creation of our military empire.

But in this case, Obama was referring to a specific TR speech on a specific subject that is all quite relevant today, and the only thing you got out of it was petty, stupid, childish ad hom attacks on Obama.

Grow the fuck up, man! For Christ's sake, no wonder the GOP field is such a fuckin' joke this year! You conservatives have become the intellectual equivalents of spoiled, sheltered, insecure, babyish, schoolyard brats.

  14. Well, Jersey, G. W. Bush landed on aircraft carriers and told everyone that the mission was over in Iraq. That stuff still plays pretty big.

We don't want the crack Afghan spec-ops night dropping and putting botulism in our Wheaties.

  15. Jersey: Thanks! It's about time an Obama fanboy chimed in. You believe in Obama fairy tales, and you're telling me to grow up?

    Ha ha ha!

You want a comparison? Obama needs to bust the trusts, cartels and monopolists who reside in government, big business and the unions.

    @"Fighting in easy wars"

They're all easy for those of you who have never been there.

  16. I have to wonder who's millions of taxpayer dollars did Obama use to make a trip to a High School for his Hollywood set to make a speech he could have made from the Oval Office while bashing those who don't pay enough. But he needs to hear the propaganda of cheering and applause.
His whole presidency is staged, From the background with the fake pillars to the staged White House Scene because they had to shrink down that chair so he didn't look
lost in it, to the hundreds of Germans who were cheering him only because they were already there for a concert.
What a fraud. By the way the Washington Post gave his ridiculous speech 3 Pinocchios.

  17. This bozo Marxist can say any stupid thing and the media never calls him on it. It's too bad we can't convert the hot air from this guy into something useful.

I don't know about you, but I don't want my kids to live in a socialist state where the privileged few like Obama, and his fat ugly wife and his sullen kids get privileges and the rest of the country gets the left overs.

Obama's hatred of capitalism is just an extension of his hatred of America.

  18. Silver, I know the history of the Spanish-American War. Heck, I was just reading about it again. Did you know we used mostly black troops for the roughest fighting? We did it for two reasons: many of the Cuban revolutionaries were black (Cuba had a huge black population that was oppressed horrifically by the Spanish), but we weren't really with the revolutionaries. We were in it for geopolitical/colonial reasons. So we used black troops because they were in our eyes more disposable and in the revolutionaries eyes because they shared the same color.

So, on a pile of levels, the war was just one new sleazy colonial power fighting one old sleazy colonial power in some poor third party location for money and resources and power.

As for that famous "charge" on San Juan Hill, it was a lopsided assault on a poorly designed defensive position. The Spanish gave up quickly, without much of a fight, and retreated.

"You believe in Obama fairy tales, and you're telling me to grow up?"

Why do you insist on misrepresenting me? What? Do you think you're my id? Since when do I "believe in Obama fairy tales?"

Again man. This post... I don't know. If you conservatives can not elevate the debate, you will only serve to lower the entire national discourse.

Would the demented mofo who gave us "tinkle down" economics and started the long decline have a nice austerity plan like the one that's got the English economy in the shitter or would he manage another wealth transfer to depress demand and start another asset bubble

Come on, Austria, which would it be.

Oh, it's quite alright. The feeling is deeply mutual and shared by those of us who feel similarly about those who drift by the eternal flame of a serial adulterer. What.....no, RoNniE RaYGuN? Aww, c'mon.

Honestly, do you deal in anything other than breathlessly skewed hyperbole?

Oh, by the bye..you do realize that the "Mission Accomplished" banner was erected by the crew in reference to the USS Lincoln completing it's mission off the Gulf. That's from the crew, itself.

In the interest of truth, care to cite those references with a verifiable order of battle and troop compositions? Describing a certain skirmish or attack as "the roughest" is very subjective to the combatants involved.

With a year to go before election time, the slobbering media has 35 or so more Presidents to compare your Lightbringer to. I'm certain they'll eventually get to one that you agree with.

    Besides, SF is exactly right.

Barack Obama is an effete metrosexual who has had everything handed to him on a silver platter.

That statement is 100% accurate. He shows very little mental toughness. His personality also shows that his capacity for physical fortitude is probably low. If there is one thing that one learns from time in the military; it is that physical demands are most easily overcome by mental toughness. President first person personal pronoun is the weakest we have ever had.

  29. Ducky: Reagan's job creation and economic success speak for themselves.

Nixon and Carter drove us into a hole, trying to pay for Johnson's Great Society. Reagan got us out of it. Not his fault that the dems wouldn't uphold their end of the bargain and cut spending.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Raygun got us out of it? You are full of shit.

Carter's Fed appointee Paul Volker stopped the stagflation after Dick Nixon lobbied Arthur Burns to keep interest rates low to avoid even a hint of recession which might harm his election chances. Raygun didn't do crap.

Raygun oversaw Social Security tax increase on the middle class while he was generating one of the most massive wealth transfers in our history.

You republicans who don't have a pot to pee in love that shit. THANK YOU SIR MAY I HAVE ANOTHER.
