It's the Ideology, Stupid!

Charles Krauthammer, bete noir of the howling mad left, has struck gold once again, noting... "There are two ways to run against Barack Obama: stewardship or ideology."

Attacking the President's stewardship is easy, he explains:
"worst recovery in U.S. history, 42 consecutive months of 8-plus percent unemployment, declining economic growth — all achieved at a price of an additional $5 trillion of accumulated debt." (WaPo - Krauthammer)
Throw in the crony crapitalism of Solyndra, those non-union auto workers he ripped the pensions away from during his above-the-law auto industry bailout (Which still leaves us $25 billion in the hole), Eric Holder's serial malfeasance, and this White House looks downright Nixonian.

Add to that the $1.68 trillion of new expenditures Obamacare will cost us, and making a case against Obama's disastrous stewardship of this nation should be a slam dunk, but his press flunkies and the leftwing mudball brigades are out in full force, acting as Obama's gargoyles on the parapet of the Progressive State.

Play "You Didn't Build That!" in Context

Krauthammer says we need to attack Obama's ideology, and I agree. The good doctor also recommends we...
... play in toto (and therefore in context) Obama’s Roanoke riff telling small-business owners: “You didn’t build that.” Real credit for your success belongs not to you — you think you did well because of your smarts and sweat?
Yes!  Is the Romney campaign listening to Charles Krauthammer?

President Obama Holds us in Contempt

Not just the president's words, but his tone betrays a contempt for smart, hardworking people who put everything on the line to fulfill a dream. And it's not a selfish dream, it's a capitalistic free-market dream, which means these men and women find creative ways to make the rest of us happy by providing us goods and services at an attractive price. Unlike Obama's blundering, bureaucratic, imperial government, private businesses have to compete for our money, and that is where the contempt and the resentment comes in.

Statists like Obama and his minions hate businesses and the people who run them, unless they can milk them for bribes, er.. campaign contributions. The average business owner is smarter and more hard working that Barack Milhous Obama. Before the country elected him Prom King, he'd never run anything larger than the Choom Gang, a collection of teenage Honolulu potheads.

So here again, as a public service, is el Jefe Maximo doing his best Hugo Chavez impersonation...

His contempt is palpable, and can anyone remember any other president publicly mocking his enemies the way this man does?  And listen to that crowd hooting and cheering on his demagoguery.  It's shameful.

So yeah, let's keep playing this, over and over, and make sure every voter sees it, in context.

  1. Apparently those on the left believe that taking those words "out of context" cannot see that leaving the words in context with the words of how he's amazed at business owners think they are do smart or work harder actually make it sound even worse. They'd be better to shut up about the whole speech. Obama told us everything we always thought he believed but wouldn't say.

So now he said it and has to live with finally showing his contempt so that even those Ameticans that don't live and breathe politics could see it.

  2. I don't know if it's true, but I read the following on the web this morning:

"When Obama found out that Paul Ryan was on the ticket, he just about shit himself."

I hope that's exactly what happened!

In my view, Romney-Ryan need to use both the ideological and stewardship arguments. It is important not to make the ideological argument too long and involved because most people don't want to exercise their brains enough to follow anything intricate.

Did not BHO himself say, "If I can't turn this economy around in three years, I should be a one-term President"? I'd hold him to that!

  3. And one more thing....This mess with the DOJ and Fast and Furious and Obama's Nixonian claim of executive privilege should be thrown in Obama's face -- along with his broken promises of transparency, one of the tenets of Obama's first run for the White House.

I don't give a damn what GWB did in that regard. He's been out of office for nearly four years now.

  4. Rita,
Obama really stepped in with two comments that we almost back to back:

    1. "The private sector is doing fine."

    2. "If you’ve got a business -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."

I'm looking forward to the upcoming debates. The VP debate will be quite something visually as Biden will look as if he's ready for the nursing home in comparison to Ryan. Youthful looks do matter a lot -- ever since 1960.

    ReplyDelete
  5. You can bet Biden surely is dreading that debate. I can't wait to see that one.

  6. I still think you righties are hearing things. He didn't say, AFAICT, that successful businessmen don't tend to work unusually hard, or be unusually smart. There's contempt, but it's contempt for people who don't appreciate what else went on beyond their own inputs to their own successes.

I know "we are now in the realm of campaign rhetoric"...

We talked about Bill Gates. He was smart and he worked hard. Got it. But nothing he did justified or caused the amazing scope of his eventual wealth. Even though much of it came down to luck, and even though I don't consume his products much, I'm happy for him.

Bill Gates, I expect, would agree with the above paragraph. If he doesn't, and believes that he became the richest man in the world and it was all down to him, his own effort and his own abilities, well then me and Obama are gonna hold him in contempt and gently mock him for his lack of depth. (and I'm sure he'll cry about THAT!)

  7. Jez: Our differences on this must spring from a fundamentally different outlook.

But nothing he did justified or caused the amazing scope of his eventual wealth.

I find than an amazing statement. He must have done something. It didn't just fall into his lap.

I'm not being derogatory, but perhaps you are displaying a more European mindset, more collectivist.

Americans just think differently, but it worries me that more and more are thinking as you do on this, and please don't take that as an insult.

We all love roads and bridges and infrastructure that bring electricity and fresh water to our homes.

Obama is engaging in raw, populist demagoguery, and the shouting crowds egging him on just makes the whole tableau stink even worse.

  8. Prepare yourself for bucket loads of that Obama contempt in the coming weeks prior to the election, as he and his ilk use every dirty trick in the book, and some tricks that have yet to make the book.

This campaign is shaking out to be God awful.

  9. "it must because I'm SO SMART..must be that I WORKED HARDER than anybody else..." He says this as if anybody who's smarter or works harder is a conceited money-grabber......
The disdain with which he says this is what I'd play day in and day out. The Left's maligned the YOU DIDN'T BUILD THAT as if it was out of context, which isn't at all true if you listen to the whole thing.

INteresting that you and Fred both posted on two Obama ads you HOPE they play over and over again to show the American people what's really going on....the nastiness and dishonest of the Left.
I wonder how many Americans are bright enough to see it.

Then there's Chuck's video of Biden sounding just a tad bit loaded...again. Let's hope our side plays that over and over again, the one where he implies that it's nice Ryan quotes from his dad and likes him (present tense so I'm not sure Biden got the message) but BIDEN's dad was wiser. nice, huh?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Z,
Good grief! I just watched that video over at Chuck's web site. Clearly, Biden has brain issues. Sheesh.

Obama's preacher cadences and near mania when he's speaking is driving me up the wall. Pure demagoguery. Are Americans really that gullible?

  13. "I find than an amazing statement. He must have done something. It didn't just fall into his lap."

Maybe you misunderstood me? I'm not saying he did nothing. He did plenty -- enough to be a successful 1980s software house. The scale of his wealth rests primarily on the PC platform taking off in a big way, which was not his doing.

  14. This point does not rest of collectivism.

  15. The biggest thing Obama has run is his mouth and that is pretty big. I agree and hope the Romney canpaigm will attack Obama's ideology. Doing so a winner in my book.

  16. The whole "roads and bridges" is another example that does not make any sense. The government may fund them, but it's still private companies that BUILT it. And that "funding" came from private companies that paid taxes and THEIR employees that paid taxes.

Obama didn't build the bridges either. A construction company and their employees built it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. when he says that it's the amazing American system that "allowed" you to be successful,he would have had more credibility if he also added thanks to your hard work you were able to create jobs to increase tax revenues that we can spend on more government programs.

    As the saying goes

  18. It is fascinating how liberals continue to say his words were taken out of context even in a 3 minute clip.

Exactly, (except we fund it, Government just thinks it's their money) but someone forgot to tell him that, and Obama (and many in the country) dont' even realize this.

  22. Charles Pierce —a man who began his august career as a forest ranger whose job it was to remove disposable diapers from state parks so that raccoons would not choke on them. The man’s forté is as a sports writer and game show panelist; in other matters, among America’s most outrageously biased reporters. This probably isn’t fair; Pierce is a reporter in the same way that Ducky is rational. Judging from his assessment of Paul Ryan, Pierce should return to his diaper removing roots.

  26. I don't think Romney will win any new votes by playing on the sleazy right wing talking points.

If Romney wants to win, he has to win independents, and they are smarter than ideologues dumb enough to take Obama out of context. (Really, you have to be retarded to believe Obama meant that).

I'm not sure how Romney does that, especially with the extreme ideologue he chose for veep.

… and Obama, Biden, Reid, Pelosi, Dodd, Frank, Axelrod, and Wasserman-Schultz are NOT extreme ideologues?

Here’s what I find amazing. A few days ago, Barack Obama mouthed the words “extreme ideologue.” It suddenly appears in the lexicon of every single leftist ideologue as if they owned it. This probably explains why leftist ideologues are incapable of voting as independents.

  32. And for the record, Government didn't invent the Internet, either

It did fund research, and come up with some building blocks, with corporate help, but it too private industry (capitalists wanting to make money) to make it into the twitterful porn-distribution network we enjoy today.

  33. This isn't that difficult. Just listen to even the tone of his voice. It's dripping with contempt. He was sure he had the audience's attention. He knew his words were hitting home for this crowd.

It's only when the viewing public found his words, his ENTIRE WORDS offensive did the mantra start in with "He didn't say that. He didn't say that."

He said. Own it. Even the transcripts show the audience applauded. The real damning words weren't the "You didn't build that." It was THIS.

"There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.)"

    His smugness is sickening.

  40. We and the generations before us, have all paid for the roads and bridges, the fire companies and police, utilities and all the rest of modern infrastructure that supports the economy. As one of the functions of government, it merely levels the playing field for the benefit of all. The government claiming credit for a successful business based on that is like attributing a Super Bowl win to the guy that grew the sod on the field.

  41. You kind of have to wonder if those people are on some kind of mind-numbing drug to cheer for what he said. I couldn't believe it. Are people that deaf to what he was saying or so star struck that they didn't want to know or hear what he was saying?

He basically mocked every single American business owner. And some of my liberal friends are defending his repulsive speech.

Ducky, Ryan's mother had to go back to school and retrain so she could start a business when the dad died when Ryan was about 15; the left's slamming him for having taken social security at that age and into college so he could survive. You can't make this stuff up.
Maybe Granddad Ryan's family just hated Paul and his mom and siblings and wouldn't share the wealth, huh? :-)
Where'd you hero get HIS money, Ducky? From the $350K Michelle got working for that hospital with Axelrod? The one which, when she left, didn't have to hire anybody to replace her? :-)

    1. "but it's contempt for people who don't appreciate what else went on beyond their own inputs to their own successes."

I think it's kind of a stupid assumption that the guys who founded FEDEX and UPS wouldn't have an appreciation for roads and airports. Really, who are these guys who don't appreciate wwhat else went on beyond their own inputs. Please name one.

    2. "The scale of his wealth rests primarily on the PC platform taking off in a big way, which was not his doing."

So what is the difference between say Bill Gates who developed software based on the 8088 series chipset versus those who developed software based on the 68000 series chipset?

One could, I suppose, get lucky, but people who get lucky in business generally don't tend to stay in business as luck is an extremely rare commodity.

Even if you want to assume he got lucky in picking the right chipset an winding up on top, there is still business acumen behind staying there once you get there.

Anyone using WordPerfect? WordPro? WordStar? MultiMate? Bravo? Gypsy?

I think you get the point... there is more to market success than luck alone.

    Cheers!

  45. Ducky... what does it matter where his wealth came from?

Jersey. Exactly what is an independent? Is there one running for president? Anyone can forgo party affiliation and not have an influence in the primaries, but when it comes right down to it they are going to vote Democrat or Republican in the general election and they are going to do that based on whether they lean left or right... or not so faf left or right.

Even if you're a dead center centrist as an 'independent' I'd venture to guess you would view Obama as further left of center than you would view Romney as futher right. At least the self identified centrist independents I know do.

Generally Massachusettsan Republicans tend not to gather at the edges and are more centrist in nature.

    Cheers!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Jersey: Yeah, you are sorry.

And Ducky, I linked to a balanced article. Government research lead to the internet, but people wanting to make money off of it made it what it was.

It's the whole damned emphasis. Hard-working Americans build this country, not the damned government.

Individuals striking out and fulfilling a dream, and as I and others have said earlier, he's lashing out at strawmen. No man is an island, we all stand on the shoulders of giants, and we are an interlocking, interdependent society.

A child knows that. So why is Il Douche Obama preaching it?

People like you were singing the praises of the Soviet Union and Fascist Italy back in the 20's and 30's. Look at them now.

Politburos centrally-planning our economy and every aspect of life didn't build us into the greatest nation the world has ever know. hard working Americans did. And they did it with the support of a limited government, but the people did it, not the government.

Go take a field trip to Cuba or Venezuela and get back to us.

  47. "Please name one."

I can't. I have met such people, but I didn't trouble to remember their names. Good for you if you never have.

"So what is the difference between say Bill Gates who developed software based on the 8088 series chipset versus those who developed software based on the 68000 series chipset?"

I don't know, everyone's different. My point is, Gates didn't predict or cause the IBM platform to take off like it did.

"Anyone using WordPerfect? WordPro? WordStar? MultiMate? Bravo? Gypsy?"

None of those are operating systems. A case can be made that wordperfect was bullied out of the market by microsoft leveraging its windows monopoly.

"I think you get the point... there is more to market success than luck alone."

If I ever said that, I didn't mean to. Can we agree that luck was one significant input to Microsoft's runaway success?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yes, undoubtedly luck plays a role in pretty much everything... or probably more precisely, randomness.

you can in a poker hand by luck

People who win poker tournaments, generally aren't considered lucky, they are considered skilled.

Like the old song says, You gotta know when to hold them, know when to fold them, know when to walk away, and no when to run.
