It's all hype folks. Obama is a spent force.
In a sign of increasing desperation, President Obama has finally, grudgingly produced a plan for his next four years. It's a slick brochure, light on facts and heavy on emotional appeal, more worthy of an automobile dealership showroom, but it's got his dwindling fan base all excited.
I wrote a blog post a year ago saying that the dems were in trouble because Obama's all they got, and the Hope has been revealed to be nothing more than hype.
Romney Mindfreaked Obama
In that post I made fun of the Obama fanboy who said this about his man crush:
And he’s the same guy who will leave quarts of blood on the floor in the coming months to defend his office.
Obama likes to get into people’s heads. It might be a coincidence that Obama called Texas Gov. Rick Perry about the wildfires in the Lone Star State just hours before Perry was participating in his first debate. And it might not.
On the golf course, on the basketball court and even in the Cabinet Room, the president has shown repeatedly that he is a mindfreak, to use a term from the basketball courts. (Sam Youngman - I Want to be Obama's Love Slave)I said it at the time, but Obama has now proven it. That was all BS. Obama's not a mindfreak, and it's his head that is rattled.
Romney got inside Obama's head from the first debate to the last, putting him back on his heels at the start, and leaving him scrambling to regain his pedestal, looking shouty and desperate while Romney calmly parried the President's wild punches. Mitt zinged him good at the Al Smith Dinner, leaving the president outgunned and outclassed again. In the third debate, Obama came armed for a Romney attack on the Benghazi terrorist attack, and Mitt did a misdirect, almost causing Obama to throw his shoulder out punching thin air. The president was quickly reduced to snide derision, which even his fans in the news media found out of place.
Romney is More Presidential than The President
Go look at the YouTube of the president's closing statement at the third debate. It was the statement of an angry, losing challenger, not a president who had near total-control these past four years.
Romney has shown himself to be a cool customer who does his homework and goes about his tasks in a diligent manner.
Obama has shown himself to be a peevish, petty little man who is in way over his head.
Romney has clearly outclassed him, to the point where Obama's playground jabs made him look like the challenger and Romney the President.
As Mrs Silverfiddle observed, Mitt has shown us he can sit down and rationally and cogently present his point of view in a hostile environment. Obama has shown that he cannot, at least without getting angry and sarcastic. Mitt Romney is more presidential than the president.
Western Hero - There Will be Mud
White House Dossier - Romney's Brilliant Maneuver
I put very little stock in characterizations of a politicians personality, when presented by the ideological opponent. It carries as much weight as when the reverse occurs.
ReplyDeleteObama being the hope and savior for the left is surely a bad sign for their party....but then again, the right has Romney...and if that's the best they could do, then their position is only better by inches.
Silverfiddle,
ReplyDeleteI agree completely with your statement about the closing statements at the third Presidential debate.
Obama surely is sounding very angry lately on the stump. Rage, nearly.

Just now on CBS Morning News, Colin Powell has endorsed Obama for re-election. **sigh**

ReplyDeleteIt still concerns me that all the polls are so close. Either we have skewed polling questions and sampling, or people just aren't honest with pollsters or just that many people in the country have dumbed down and gone on the government dole. I'm hoping that on November 6, the Romney vote is more of a blowout. If its very close race, I foresee Democratic shenanigans from fraud to legal challenges to riots in the street. Anything to stay in power.
ReplyDelete@CI - yes its unfortunate that Romney is the best the Republicans could do and Romney. I don't think he will lead as a really strong conservative. However given the reality of our choices, I will take the "inches" over the "zero". We have about forty years of the country sliding left to undo. We have to start somewhere.

ReplyDeleteRomney is More Presidential than The President
ReplyDelete-----------
What the hell does that mean?
Just a useless cliche.
But let me get to something near and dear to the conservative/libertarian heart, scuttling Social Security and Medicare.
Now with Romney you'll get the idiot Ryan flapping his mouth and the process will seize up due to the ridiculous overreach.
The Black Messiah will ease into "the grand bargain" and do more to trash Social Security/Medicare than the fool Romney ever could.
Amazes me that the fringe right is so unaware. Hope you folks can self insure.
@Alligator - I sympathize with that position, I simply don't see Romney as being merely more of the status quo.

ReplyDeleteSF: "As Mrs Silverfiddle observed, Mitt has shown us he can sit down and rationally and cogently present his point of view in a hostile environment."
ReplyDeleteYes. Of course. That's why Willard so rationally and cogently claimed that "Syria is Iran's only ally in the Arab world. It's their route to the sea."
And according to people who track Willard's statements, this wasn't a one-time gaffe. He's repeated it several times over the past year. Someone on his team should have corrected his lack of knowledge of geography in that important part of the ME and stopped him from embarrassing himself.
Also, we see that the only person Willard has publicly endorsed for the US Senate is the guy from Indiana who believes pregnancies from rape are gifts from God. Now there's a cogent point of view.
Your post on Willard and his putative superior powers in presidential style is quaint and endearing. "Looking more presidential" is a great asset if one is auditioning for a role in a movie in Hollywood.
But it appears the American people think sticking to one set of principles and not flip-flopping like a circus acrobat is a better asset.
November is bearing down on us, and we'll soon be able to see how accurate your lovely little paean to Willaard is, and if the American electorate will buy what he's been selling.
Scratch the "don't" from my previous. I didn't proof very well.
ReplyDeleteThe truth hurts, Shaw. The O is empty.
ReplyDeleteWhat the Kool-Aid drinkers thought was a halo was a noose all along. It is getting tighter by the day.
ReplyDeleteWell Silver, the cult of personality is a permanent aspect of our politics as the media holds sway.
ReplyDeleteDo you think that swooning over a mediocrity like Condominium Rice is a sign of deep thought.
It's all run on image. The worst are the fools who tout a stiff like Paul Ryan not realizing their are as much cult victims as Obummer supporters.
Liberalism is childishness. Witness all the liberal anchors who loved his derision.
ReplyDeleteI half expected Obama to use the trite phrase "speaking truth to power" during the debate.
Nothing's going to change anyone's mind either way, BECAUSE we human beings are governed ENTIRELY by our PASSIONS and PREJUDICES -- never by REASON.
ReplyDeleteREASON is the but the SLAVE of PASSION and ever more shall be so.
I have watched our once beautiful country throw away most-if-not-all of her advantages one by one in the past fifty five years, BECAUSE the Public Mind has been CONDITIONED by Master Manipulators in the Education, Entertainment, News and Information Industries -- and what may be left of book Publishing -- to adopt SUICIDAL policies in the name of Fairness and Decency.
We've been HAD, and most of us don't even know it. The intellectual cancer emanating from The Frankfurt School through places like Berkeley, the University of Chicago and The Ivy League has metastasized to such an extent that The USA is now TERMINAL -- beyond hope.
The "Pen," is, INDEED, "mightier than the Sword."
What Thomas Paine started has been destroyed by the likes of Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, Herbert Marcuse and Saul Alinsky.
Because of them and their filthy ilk, we don't know who we are anymore.
Paine was a serious leftist Freethinker. He wasn't some Libertarian fop like Jefferson.
ReplyDeleteShaw:
ReplyDeleteFor in-depth understanding of comments made by adults like Mitt Romney about Syria providing Iran access to the sea, I recommend you avoid simple-minded leftwing sites.
Do you really believe Romney could be so incredibly stupid to believe Iran is a land-locked country? Really?
Well, you did vote for Obama...
Anyway, here is the context from which he was speaking:
"Romney was speaking in the context of the debate topic on foreign policy and the sanctions restricting the finances and trade of Iran. Although Iran is indeed located on the seacoast of the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf, the international trade sanctions have restricted and impeded its ability to transport armaments and other goods through its own seaports. To defeat these trade sanctions, Iran has resorted to using its air transportation to transport goods through an air corridor in Iraqi airspace into Syria and its seaports, such as Latakia."

This is how the left operates folks!
The nasty little man showed his colors after the 2010 election debacle when we gained the House. He did not get the message. We live to fight another day.
ReplyDeleteMr. "I've now campaigned in 57 states" is the absolute MASTER of geography...
ReplyDeleteOooops.
SF,
ReplyDeleteThat's nice.
Tell us how the "right" operates when it continued to use the "57 states" gaffe as proof that Mr. Obama is a secret Muslim.
The explanation given for that gaffe has been ignored for the last 4 years by the right, but your explanation for the Syria/Iran gaffe has to be accepted as proof of how the left "operates?"
Two sides of the same coin, dude. But your indignation is duly noted.
"Tell us how the "right" operates when it continued to use the "57 states" gaffe as proof that Mr. Obama is a secret Muslim."
ReplyDeleteGo peddle it somewhere else, sister. You know I don't traffic in that stuff here.
Lies, willful distortion and fear and smear are all the left has left.
@Thersities: "Mr. 'I've now campaigned in 57 states' is the absolute MASTER of geography...

Well, he is supporting the GOP candidate.

ReplyDeleteAll this silly personality nonsense aside, it all comes down to this for the US voter: Are you stupid to put the same bunch back in White House who did all that damage the last time around?
ReplyDeleteIf you are that stupid - vote for Romney. Then get back to your hobby of hit yourself on the head with a stick.
JMJ
@ Jersey: Are you stupid to put the same bunch back in White House who did all that damage the last time around?
ReplyDeleteThat is the best argument I've heard yet for voting Obama out.
Ms. Shaw,
ReplyDeleteThese moronic games of GOTCHA! began -- as far as I can remember -- with the unabashed reveling indulged in by the Liberal Media Establishment over Dan Quayle's POTATOE.
It's been off to the races ever since.
It amuses the hell out of me to see leftists get all huffy puffy and bent out of shape when the right wing gives them a taste of their own medicine.
Only the LEFT believe in ONE-WAY RUDENESS.
"We" on the right -- or I should say IN the right ;-) -- have been awfully slow to catch on, but now that we've finally decided that "what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander," you on the left are crying "FOUL!" in stentorian tones.
If all this display of mutual disingenuousness weren't so bad for the country, I'd just laugh myself silly.
If you don't like it, please try to remember who started it. It might help assuage your ire -- a bit

ReplyDeleteA good multifunctional statement. I wasn't sure which Administration[s] you were talking about until your second paragraph.
"......have been awfully slow to catch on......"
While the left can usually be more maladroit and lazy, don't sell your side so short........the reliance on memes and myths has few equals on the left.
"If you don't like it, please try to remember who started it. It might help assuage your ire -- a bit." --FT
ReplyDeleteI don't understand what "it" you say I don't like, since my only remarks here have nothing to do with disliking.
Remember who started "it?"
We'd have to go all the way back to the Adams/Jefferson feud. That's when all this nastiness started.
Mr. Washington wanted no part of political parties. But humans are tribal, and here we are.
Lol, I love it. A wingnut circle jerk of delusion.
ReplyDeleteGive it up SF...we live in China now.
ReplyDelete" ... human [beings] are tribal, and here we are."
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Ms. Shw, but I for one wish we could stop ourselves from indulging in all these fake histrionics over petty nonsense -- like "potatoe," "fifty-seven states," "I did not have sex with that woman --- Ms. Lewinsky," and "the 47%," etc.
Everyone with a shred of intelligence knows these are spurious concerns that have no bearing on the economy, the shrinking value of the dollar, job availability, international trade imbalances, increasing Central Control of essentially Private Matters, increasing disregard for LIFE as the thing we should hold most sacred, Waste, Fraud, Abuse of Power on every conceivable level. Raising levels of LITERACY, FACTUAL KNOWLEDGE, comprehensive study of DISPARATE POINTS OF VIEW, encouraging appreciation of Art, Architecture, Music, Literature from a long range historical perspective. Etc. Etc. Etc.
It's my view we need to drive "AGENDAS" of ALL kinds -- both liberal AND conservative -- from the field of education at all levels.
If we simply showed students the world as it is an has been sans "interpretation" with a political, philosophical or religious "slant," society would benefit enormously.
Right now in my never humble opinion we're all MUCH too busy trying to tell each other how we OUGHT to lead our lives.
The policy has generated a great deal of hatred and misunderstanding on all sides. We're all at each other's throats as much -- or more -- than ever.
Surely we should be able to appreciate each other's good points without feeling we must CAPITULATE to someone else's point of view in order to secure their friendship.
As for Jefferson and Adams' famous feud -- and all that followed in its wake -- you're right. Proving once again that "The more things change, the more they remain the same."
I suspect, however, that such carryings on in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries were more THEATRICAL than PERSONAL -- rather like the stories we hear of lawyers who've been beating each other to a bloody pulp in the courtroom going out to lunch together during the trial, or hoisting a few together at the local pub in the evening, or playing friendly rounds of golf together at the same country club, etc.
There's something deadlier -- really chilling -- about what's going on today. Because of the introduction of Marxian notions of "Class Warfare" as a legitimate topic and the advent of Unions as gangsters engaged in Thuggery, Extortion and sometimes even murder, the scene is no longer intellectual and theatrical. Instead it has become brutal and truly hateful.
And oh yes, such events as the infamous Burr-Hamilton duel certainly prove that brutality, though of a more decorous, regimented sort, was very much alive during the seemingly elegant lifestyle enjoyed by our Founders.
The veneer of Civilization has always been wafer thin and fragile as a flower, but today -- thanks to advancing "Proletarianism" for want of a better term -- it appears to be wearing away altogether.
I hate to see us lapsing into neo-barbarism touted as "egalitarianism."

ReplyDeleteYou left out the "apology tour".
Salient points in this missive, but why does it differ from your previous where you blame only one narrowly separated portion of the ideological scale?
Well folks, there you have it.
ReplyDeleteTry to build a bridge, and there's always someone lurking in the shadows with a stick of dynamite determined to blow it up before it's even half-completed.
Why did God make ants, roaches, termites, mosquitos and brown recluse spiders, et al. ?
Does anyone have an inkling?
And where, oh where is THE GARBAGE DETAIL?
ReplyDelete"Why did God make ants, roaches, termites, mosquitos and brown recluse spiders, et al. ?"
ReplyDeleteMost of those creatures evolved on this planet long before homo sapiens. Your question seems to ask why do we humans have to contend with these creatures.
They actually play significant roles in providing food for creatures on the lower rungs of the food chain.
Ants:
"They eat pests harmful to crops and orchards. They destroy garden pests, killing small larvae and culling aphids before they can destroy the plant they are on. Ants kill 40 percent of newly hatched plant-feeding bugs and 30 percent of flies, making them more effective than some pesticides. One species of ants destroys up to 12,000 larvae a day!
Ants also pollinate while feeding on nectar, and their tunnels allow air to circulate in the ground, which is beneficial to the soil and plant roots. They are useful in creating a stable ecosystem."
To learn more about the amazing ant, I highly recommend E.O. Wilson.
All this philosophical nonsense aside...
ReplyDeleteRomney's team is a steaming pile of old GW Bushies. The same crowd who wrecked the economy, our international reputation, our good faith and credit, and any lingering notion in the world that Americans weren't just barbaric jingo. They did that and only a moron would want them back in the White House. Don't be a moron.
JMJ
Free Thinke: now be fair, don't you think that Quayle's "capacity to reduce the English language to a heap of twitching wreckage" as Clive James put it, was worthy of coverage? As I remember it, Quayle makes George W look like Will Self.
ReplyDeleteWhat's moronic, Jersey, is overlooking the hand congress had in wrecking our finances.
ReplyDeleteLook at the international public opinion surveys. Obama has not increased our standing in the eyes of other nations, so your entire argument is specious as best.
Hello, Shaw,
ReplyDeleteYour good information on ants reminds me of a book we had when I was still a little boy. My mother was fascinated by it. The title?
THE CLEVER LITTLE PEOPLE WITH SIX LEGS
It was about ants. ;-)

ReplyDelete@ Les: Either way folks we might as well face it. We're screwed either way. Kust ask the oligarchs.
ReplyDeleteThen why even bother? Why do you waste time blogging?
By the way, Ms. Shaw -- and others -- the reference to various forms of vermin was intended as metaphorical -- not to be taken literally.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, good information is always welcome, even if it arrives as the product of misinterpretation.
