Why the Debates Don't Matter

The Obamabots will go Forward!  Into the Abyss!  with Comandante Zero no matter what.

He leads Romney by double digits among women, despite the fact there are half a million more unemployed women now than when Obama took office.  In the War on Women, Obama is the Commander in Chief.

He still has the confidence of almost half the country despite breezily zooming off to Vegas (after telling us not to go) hours after a US Ambassador was murdered in a terrorist attack. Barack Obama is an unserious man in a very serious time.

Anyhoo, George Will, in his usual pithy manner deprecates political debates as little more than sound bite kabuki:
The spectacles we persist in dignifying as presidential “debates” — two-minute regurgitations of rehearsed responses — often subtract from the nation’s understanding. (George Will)
A subtraction of understanding can only help President Obama and hurt Mitt Romney.

Will started out this latest excellent column by giving us a stunning factoid:
“the average age of the Supreme Court justices (66) is less than that of the Rolling Stones (68)” (George Will)
Although, like the Stones, the Supreme Court appears to be lapsing into self-parody, they have not yet gone on the road to become their own cover band.

Will threw this out as entre to some serious questions for the candidates about recent Supreme Court decisions…

For Romney:
Do you reject the Kelo decision, in which the Supreme Court deferred to governments’ desire to seize private property and give it to wealthier private interests who would pay higher taxes?
For Obama:
You deplore the court’s Citizens United decision. What is your constitutional basis for rejecting the decision’s principle that Americans do not forfeit their First Amendment rights when they come together in corporate entities (mostly nonprofit advocacy corporations such as the Sierra Club) to speak collectively?
He also has foreign policy and domestic policy questions, and the ones to Romney are no easier than the ones to Obama. If we put Professor George Will in charge of the debates, they might actually be debates. It’s a brilliant article. You can read the whole thing here.

So watch the debates tonight if you must, but you can bet your bottom Obama-dollar the baggy-eyed Bolshevik Jim Lehrer and his fellow leftwing inquisitors will not be bringing the heat to their messiah, but Romney had better watch his back.

Articles I hope Romney and his team have read:

  1. Good post SF. I will not be watching the debates tonight, because like Will, I see them as nothing more than political theater.

Neither candidate will propose any position that isn't deemed 'safe'. Both candidates will rely heavily on canned talking points with dubious grounding in reality.

And afterwards, both parties will proclaim that their side won....even after that sad spectacle of playing up their opponents debate abilities in the run up to the debates.

  2. If you Liberal's think that Republicans are racists, Watch this Video!

Obama is the biggest disgrace the country has ever experienced. If he's re-elected our Republic is dead. He should be tried for treason. Unfortunately, the uneducated, dependent scum that votes for him are clueless. No idea how economics work. If you continue to take my money through more taxation ill loose the desire to work. Then what? Third World country. This is what he wants.

  3. The Obama administration issued new guidance intended for defense contractors Friday afternoon, reiterating the administration’s position that the companies should not be issuing layoff notices over sequestration.
The Labor Department issued guidance in July saying it would be “inappropriate” for contractors to issue notices of potential layoffs tied to sequestration cuts. But a few contractors, most notably Lockheed Martin, said they still were considering whether to issue the notices — which would be sent out just days before the November election.
But the Friday guidance from the Office of Management and Budget raised the stakes in the dispute, telling contractors that they would be compensated for legal costs if layoffs occur due to contract cancellations under sequestration — but only if the contractors follow the Labor guidance.
The guidance said that if plant closings or mass layoffs occur under sequestration, then “employee compensation costs for [Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification] WARN act liability as determined by a court” would be paid for covered by the contracting federal agency.

It's Disgusting.how he just makes up his own laws to suit himself. Maybe this will wake up a few obamazombies to what they are actually voting for.
I would not want to even touch the voting machine without using a hand sterilizer after one of these liberal voters touch it..

That should be "no idea how the economy works", Mr. Educated.

  5. The debates are being run by America's Socialist News Networks. The left Stream Media should, in fact, be registered as Democratic Super PACs. The cards are stacked against Romney in this show called "debates".

    ReplyDelete
  6. Odd that FNC would be grouped in with that designation.

Of course, they are part of the "lamestream media".

  7. It is all a show. The media has already taped their analysis of the debates and declared that Obama was the winner and any misstep Romney makes will be replayed every 10 minutes. NBC will have their Obama Forward banner and everyone will gush over how magnificent he was.

Now we need to move Forward and get as many conservative Senators elected as possible. The left has little use for the truth, look at their support for the lying Pocahontas Warren.

  8. Since my horse isn't included in the debates, the result of the American entrenched duo-pollistic American system, I will be watching intently as Frik or Frak both prove why they SHOULN'T be President.

A real beer and chuckles opportunity...

  9. Two things will exposed tonight.

    1. You'll see a stark contrast of both candidates. One being a socialist, the other a Capitalist.

    2. The MSM will finally be exposed as a left leaning bias operation when they throw softball question towards the President.

  10. "Why do you keep proving what an uneducated bigot you are?"

    What a wonderful question!

Why DO you do that, Stephanie?

What DO you get out of it?

You remind me of the creeps who like to write obscenities on public restroom walls using their own turds as a fountain pen.

  11. "You'll see a stark contrast of both candidates. One being a socialist, the other a Capitalist."

You're probably right, Mark, but the defeatists who make up the majority on this thread (so far) are correct, BECAUSE -- here comes the litany once again -- at least half the electorate has been rendered deaf, dumb and blind -- incapable of recognizing or respecting TRUTH -- because of the all-pervasive, saturating influence of:

    A. A Corrupt Educational System run by Cultural Marxists,

    B. A corrupt News and Information Industry run by out-and-out Communists disguised as "objective' journalists

    C. A degenerate Entertainment Industry that has done everything possible to destroy traditional family values while promoting Marxism in ways both blatant and subtle.

People do not understand WHY they think the way they do -- rather why they don't think at ALL, but instead merely REACT with reflexive, hyper-emotionalism -- the product of "conditioning," better known as "brainwashing."

The successful vilification of those who tried most desperately to avoid our succumbing to this deadly process is a tribute to the tremendous power of The Big Lie.

    Cassandra

    McCarthy

    J.Edgar Hoover

    Richard M. Nixon

Kevin McCarthy in The Body Snatchers

    Glenn Beck

All valiant, effective, anti-Communists, and all brought down by the Intellectual Aggression of Cultural Marxism -- an aggression so insidious, so fierce, so seductive, and so potent that "none can call its power to account."

THE fate of these now-universally-despised-and-discredited fallen heroes will be ours in no time flat, because VERY FEW ARE CAPABLE OF RECOGNIZING THE TRUTH ANYMORE.

Thanks to one hundred years of relentless "conditioning," by evil geniuses, MOST PEOPLE WOULDN'T KNOW TRUTH, IF IT BIT THEM ON THE ASS.

  13. And yes before some smartass literalist rushes in to start catcalling, I do realize that Cassandra, a figure of ancient legend, was blissfully ignorant of Marxism and never involved in American politics. I also realize that Kevin McCarthy's character in The Body Snatchers was fictional and apolitical, and could not, therefore, be properly counted as an anti-Communist.

So why did I include them in my [hastily improvised] list?

Because all either knew -- or earnestly sought -- Truth. All were aware of imminent deadly danger, while most around them remained blissfully ignorant, and all were either blithely ignored or successfully balked in their attempts to save their societies from woe and destruction.

In a very real sense it's the story of Jesus Christ all over again. He sought to save HIS people -- and by extension all mankind -- from the error of THEIR ways, look how HE was rewarded.

Yes, Les, what you said on an earlier thread is sadly true. Plus ca change, plus ca la meme chose. The more things change, the more they remain the same.

  14. "You'll see a stark contrast of both candidates. One being a socialist, the other a Capitalist."

A stark contrast between two centrist, big government, crony capitalists who pay mere lip service to individual liberty?

Are there two other candidates I'm not aware of?

  15. I'll give you this, Silver, those are pretty interesting and revealing questions.

You do beg the issue claiming Obummer deplores Citizens United. He's making music for the proles but loves those contributions.
Still, his answer would be interesting.

  16. I'd refine the question on Kelo a bit.

I believe the court declined to overturn saying they were going to defer to the state and not become a forum to decide every taking suit.
They did let stand that eliminating blight was a legitimate act for the public good.

Still it would be interesting to hear how Mittens answered.

  17. CI "A stark contrast between two centrist, big government, crony capitalists who pay mere lip service to individual liberty?"

First, Obama's NO centrist. In 2008 he fooled many in to believing such nonsense he spewed.

The other one can be persuaded to fall in line with individual liberty, when straying from it. The other can't, or should I say WON'T

  18. "He's making music for the proles but loves those contributions."

I appreciate the honest admission, Ducky, and will reciprocate by saying republicans are no better.

Politics runs off of BS and hypocrisy.

  19. Romney should stop worrying what the lamestream media says, they are never going to say anything favorable about him and for goodness sake don't become an apologist for being honest and stating your feelings. He will never please these liberal dopes, and they will then perceive you to be weak.

I think all Mitt Romney has to do is just ask and include the Tea Party people to help him win, and he will see more and more people coming on board. Many of the Tea Party people are going to the "Swing States" the first weekend of October to help Conservatives running for office. Why doesn't Mitt Romney see that we want to help because we cannot afford another four years of this horror in the Oval Office.

  20. "First, Obama's NO centrist. In 2008 he fooled many in to believing such nonsense he spewed."

You are obviously entitled to a different opinion, but he has governed nowhere near what he is being demogogued for by the fringe right. This is part of what drove me from the GOP; the bellicose and hyperbolic rhetorical framing that merely underscores a deficit in their position.

"The other one can be persuaded to fall in line with individual liberty, when straying from it."

Who is going to bring him in line with the protection of individual liberties? The number of Republican lawmakers who support the notion in any sort of substantive manner could fit in my living room sharing a dram of SMS.

  21. The only landslide Romney will see is the one that buries him when Obama wins re-election.
It's a real pleasure for me to read all these tea-bagger bigots in full panic mode now. It's hilarious how desperate they're becoming.

  22. Romney needs to grow a pair,
And clear the air by breathing fire.

If he stays polite and kind,
    We'll find he's not our heart's desire.

If tonight is one big snore,
    A crashing bore too diplomatic

    Romney we will just ignore,
act sore, stay home, and thus ensure

That Barry's reelection will be neatly automatic.

  23. Tis so much joy! 'Tis so much joy!
If I should fail, what poverty!
And yet, as poor as I
    Have ventured all upon a throw;
    Have gained! Yes! Hesitated so
    This side the victory!

Life is but life, and death but death!
Bliss is but bliss, and breath but breath!
    And if, indeed, I fail,
At least to know the worst is sweet.
    Defeat means nothing but defeat,
    No drearier can prevail!

And if I gain, -- oh, gun at sea,
Oh, bells that in the steeples be,
    At first repeat it slow!
For heaven is a different thing
    Conjectured, and waked sudden in,
    And might o'erwhelm me so!

  24. @As you told us before you haven't watch news, or political shows for years, but always spew hate about what you don't know..."

Steve, welcome to the digital age, there is this new invention that displays ascii characters in an organized pattern that conveys information... ITS CALLED READING!!!

Perhaps you should learn it, then you wouldn't be swallowing all those suppositories and wondering why your ass still itches.

  26. I liked this quote: "the unemployment numbers we’re now facing are actually worse than the ones your administration predicted we would have had without the “stimulus.”

Which parallels a question I just asked in a response to yesterday's post:

If Obama is all about the middle class, the poor, the downtrodden... how come the market's recovered but the economy hasn't?

I have to agree with C.I, and partially with Ducky

    Obama isn't a marxist, he's a left-wing corporatist, while Romney is a right-wing corporatist.

A perfect illustration of the sad state of affairs in American Politics... we need to close six miles of Interstate and about four square miles of urban area to protect the bastards running for office from the PEOPLE!

Betcha the founding fathers never even dreamed of that one. Odd, but I think old King George would have had a better reception in Boston during the revolution.

    Cheers!

  27. Romney took round one in a BIG way! And Silver, the moderator did a good job in letting the candidates speak, a service to the people.

Will be interesting to see if Romney moved the needle his way. I believe he probably did.

  28. RN: Mrs Silverfiddle is the official political watcher in the family, and she reports the same, as do the teens, who said Obama's body language and facial expressions were terrible.

I was out on the deck cooking chickens, drinking beer and listening to music. It was a beautiful day today, south of where the debate was held, probably the last good one of the year.

  31. If nothing else it'll be one of the few opportunities that Romney will have to point out what a failure of a president obama has been for the last 4 years.

He has a record he must defend and Romney has to use it to expose obama for the fraud and waste of space he is. Among other things.
