The first line of this song is critical to the article that follows:
"What goes up must come down".
Texas State Representative Armando Martinez was celebrating New Year's Eve with his wife in their backyard in the rural Texas town of Weslaco. Hearing celebratory gunfire as the hour struck, well what follows is better in his words:
"At the stroke of midnight, my wife comes over and gives me a hug and a kiss, and right after that I felt like a sledgehammer hitting the back of my head."
Rushed to the Valley Baptist Medical Center surgeons discovered .223 bullet fragments lodged in the outer surface layer of his brain.
A bullet fired up into the air can in its descent reach speeds of up to 300 feet per second, bullets fired at less than a 45 degree angle can reach much higher speeds as the course is more ballistic rather than simply affected by gravity.
Come on folks, shooting guns into the air is something best left to the third world... it's a no brainer (too soon?).
