Obamacare Summed Up in One Sentence

Dr Barbara Bellar is a candidate for the Illinois state senate.  She has an impressive bio:  Doctor, lawyer, Army Guard Major and former nun!

She's also funny.  In this short YouTube video, she sums up Obamacare in one very long and very funny sentence:


I wish her luck and pray for her victory.  The corrupt state of Illinois could use more legislators like her.

    ObamaCare is one helluva scam.

    On October 1, Medicare patients were FINALLY notified about the huge cutback and the changes to therapy (PT, OT, and ST). The cap actually took effect on January 1, 2012, and some patients will now owe about $24,000!

    From this source:

    Effective January 1, 2012, the $1880 therapy cap with an exceptions process applies to services furnished in the following outpatient therapy settings: physical therapists in private practice, physician offices, skilled nursing facilities (Part B), rehabilitation agencies (or ORFs), and comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facilities (CORFs). In addition, the therapy cap with an exceptions process will apply to hospital outpatient departments no later than October 1, 2012 until the end of 2012. The therapy cap does not apply to critical access hospitals.

    NOTE THOSE DATES!

    Notification to patients occurred on October 1 -- and not before.

    Outpatient therapy in a hospital setting has never before had these caps! Patients have been blindsided.

    The cap will be changed for 2013:

    Based on the legislation (H.R. 3630, The Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012) hospital outpatient settings will be subject to the therapy cap October 1, 2012. Hospitals would no longer be subject to the therapy cap after December 31, 2012.

    In the meantime, many seniors are in serious financial trouble.

    PS: I know about the above issue because Mr. AOW has been receiving therapy since August 1st -- to the tune of $4000/month. Because Mr. AOW has a Medicare Advantage plan, we are not left holding the bag. In the meantime, of course, some of those therapists are going to get laid off.

  9. Obama isn't used to being challenged and everyone in the media can thank themselves for that. They've followed him like obedient slaves and cleaned up after his mistakes, or refused to cover them. Now Obama folds like a cheap umbrella when Mitt Romney had the the guts to stand up to him, and to challenge him. He's never had to endure any vetting what so ever., let alone a real press conference where he walks out without answering any questions.. He is used to reading pre written speeches by his advisers on th Teleprompter and having the reporters print them as facts.
    For once, we saw someone give him a taste of his own medicine we didn't see that egomaniac's nose up in the air as if he's better than the rest of us. He is arrogant and I'm glad he was knocked down a few pegs. My hope it that this continues.

    You believe every lie that Obama makes and eat it up. But worse than that, you think that Romney is lying when he exposes the truth about your hero, Saint Barack.
    The only reason Obama has a snowball's chance in Hell of winning is the simple fact that he's getting all this great media coverage. It doesn't matter how lousy a president he' has turned out to be. He is getting tons of help from his lap-dog press.

    Everything Mitt Romney does is torn to pieces while everything Obama does wrong is ether ignored or trivialized. I'm listening to these asshats on TV talk about the bump Obama received from the phomey employment numbers and they're simply ignoring the elephant in the room. Obama has an unfair advantage when it comes to media coverage. It doesn't matter how good of a case Romney makes for change if he can't overcome the lies and the censorship that is in full effect from the Mainstream Media.
    And even his wife get this enormous exposure , isn't she on the late night talk show almost nightly? And what does she do? She's out there getting FREE campaigning coverage for Obama from her appearances on The View, the Letterman show and now . she seems to be on the Dr. Ozz show 3 times a week.
    While Obama's weak performance on the debate won't affect his base at all, even if he was more of an embarrassment than an asset.

    Before "Obamacare," we had a system in which millions and millions of people were uninsured, many of whom could afford insurance but chose to play their luck, while all of whom used hospital ER's to receive easily outpatient medical care, often becoming so ill before finally visiting the hospital as to rack up huge costs, and all of the costs involved would be avoidable with as much national coverage as possible.

    Yeah, let's go back to the sleazy con way of providing healthcare to the people.

    What a stupid idea.

    Make something, anything, actually better for a f'n change, will ya', "conservatives"??? Ever??? Or do we always go back to your imaginary 'good ol' days???

    What you and others on the left fail to realize is that even when Big Daddy Government seizes control, it all still has to be paid for, and the federal government has proven that when it is in control, it costs more.

  47. Some of the smaller health-insurance companies are going out of business as of January 1, 2013. Many of the insureds cannot afford the premiums offered by the companies still remaining.

    When I say "cannot afford," I mean that literally. The couples whom I personally know have one member of the couple totally disabled and, in one case, the disabled spouse doesn't even get SSDI. These folks caught in this trap will be forced to "play their luck," even though they had been insured for 30+ years. ObamaCare is destroying employer-based insurance for all except government employers.

    A family of two paying $1700+/month is unsustainable.

  48. Mr. AOW and I were paying $1000/month for coverage with a high deductible and zero prescription coverage.

    Then Mr. AOW got Medicare -- after the required 30-month wait following the qualifying event which left Mr. AOW totally disabled (He is under age 65). Now our total monthly premium = $400, my policy as I stated above and Mr. AOW's with full coverage as provided by Medicare Advantage. Of course, such Medicare coverage does have several limitations -- and one helluva lot of jumping through hoop after hoop. Furthermore, contrary to what many think, Medicare does have deductibles and isn't gold-plated health coverage.

    BTW, during that 30-month wait that I mentioned above, we spent about $50,000 for Mr. AOW's health care and health-insurance premiums. How did we afford that? () inherited some cash and this house from Dad's estate, (2) we live in an old house with few amenities, (3) we never took any luxury vacations, (4) we drove old cars that Mr. AOW fixed up, and (5) we are frugal people by nature. But that 30 months was a bitch! It's no wonder that I gained weight; I was eating cheap junk food so that Mr. AOW could have proper nutrition.

    My friend's brother in law had to hold several charity events at our local VFW to pay for his wife's surgeries. After he was forced to sell his house to pay for treatments, the insurance companies decided she was not 'survivable' and cut off treatments. She died.

    Obama prevents this, you shortsighted stupid little effers.

  52. No one is saying the health care system works well. It doesn't, as your story proves.

    Obama will not prevent this. What he is doing is putting insurance companies out of business and increasing access without having to pay for it, which will create scarcity, as it has everywhere else the government controls it.

    So in the future, you won't get treatment because you're standing in line. All the charity money in the world won't fix that.
