A Full Cuppa Joe

You can tell Obama is losing, because he’s even more smirky and shouty than normal, hurling insults and tossing out committee-generated one-liners (conveniently, where no opponent can rebut him).

As VP Biden would say, Romney’s trouncing of Obama in the debate last week was a big f’ing deal. Romney got a 5-point bounce in the Gallup poll and keeps going higher, so ol’ Gaffmaster Joe’s performance tonight could be worth five or so more. The election could be over this Friday…

Or Maybe Not...

So, Joe Biden had to take six days off to compete for a job he already has. What’s with all the debate prep for him and President Obama? They’ve had the job for almost four years, what is there to “prep” for? Either you know it or you don’t, and they clearly don’t which I guess explains all the preparation. It was so important to Obama that he even cancelled some golf outings and Hollywood media events to practice.

I think the Veep will probably do OK, if he stays away from mentioning how FDR went on TV to speak to the American people or doesn’t try to spell anything. His non-stop, one-man traveling minstrel show lulls us into forgetting that he is an intelligent man.

But seriously, I look for him to take a fatherly, lecturing tone to put Ryan in his place, to portray the younger man as an untested naïf. After all, unlike Obama and Biden, Ryan didn’t kill Osama with his bare hands or win a Nobel Prize, and Biden's been in politics since before Ryan was born.

Also, I predict Biden will go loud populist. It’s the free-wheeling, facts-be-damned territory that suits him best. His reeling off blue collar zingers will contrast sharply with Ryan’s studiousness, and it could end up making Ryan look like a stiff, humorless prig, in love with his actuarial tables, bogged down with cold statistics and unconcerned with “real people.”

I know, it sounds contradictory. Biden being both a lecturing father and a populist joker, but it can work for the voluble Vice President. Think Archie Bunker or (the resemblance is striking) Frank Barone, the father from Everybody Loves Raymond. It will take some skill on Ryan’s part to escape this pincers attack.

Nothing is certain. The irony for Biden is this: The more scripted and staid he is, the less effective he’ll be. If he let’s ’er rip, he can win over the crowd and beat Ryan, but that “Scranton Joe unplugged” territory is also mined with gaff hazards.

I predict an entertaining debate with no clear winner, based mostly upon the affable VP’s formidable skills at playing to the peanut gallery. I may just have to watch it tonight.

Unlike his boss, I think Biden will acquit himself quite well. He's experienced and knowledgeable; although a rolling gaffe machine, the best way I've heard him described is an 'affable wonk'.

This is not to say that Ryan won't do well either, he's smart as well, and can hammer Biden on the stimulus.

I predict this will not be a lopsided repeat of the first POTUS debate.

Biden, Schmiden, he' is a total idiot and has no business even being in that position. He is only a heartbeat away from being the 2nd worst president that America has ever had, Second to only his Boss. The two of them. are OBAMINATION'S.

In response to the hearings held yesterday, the results are as we all figured.
The Islamic scum killed our Ambassador and the current administration must be held responsible for it. They both have blood on their hands and are still lying about this. Ryan will have to be careful so as not to look like bashing a senior citizen. Just the sight of these two men on the same stage will be jarring: one is young and healthy, and the other looks as if he's nearly ready for the nursing home.

However anyone decides who won will largely be based on perceptions rather than on debate points.

Anyway, I'll watch the debate tonight. Coffee!

And that is that the Progressive Spinmeister has nothing to say after the resounding defeat of her beloved Messiah and Savior Barack Hussein Obama, who got the shit kicked out of him at yesterdays hearings. And things are getting to be very scary for her in the polls. I say be very careful of false prophets, especially those that hide behind the skirts of their Subjects.

I'm taking a WAIT and SEE attitude.

Biden for all his faults is NOT an idiot. He's a vulgar individual who panders shamelessly to the poor, the downtrodden, the lame, the halt, the blind and the chronically infuriated -- definitely a Champion of victims and Malcontents -- but he's NOT an utter fool.

Old Joe was my senator for 23 years, and while I never voted for him, I have to admit he helped any number of people in my acquaintance with both efficiency and alacrity.

You can't get elected to the U.S. Senate at age 30 and remain there uninterrupted and largely challenged for forty years without having SOMETHING on the ball.

Besides, Biden has a big, loud, common-sounding mouth, and oh how the COMMON people love him!

Anyone who appears to be "high class" has not chance whatsoever in politics today.

Paul Ryan my be young, lean, fit, and not bad looking, but he has a tinny voice and a "muffin mouth" -- meaning he looks Scrooge-like when he's talking, because his mouth turns down and seems to draw his nose and chin too close together -- like a caricature of hard-bitten old man.

It will be "interesting" to see how things turn out tonight to say the least.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but not expecting any sort of dramatic, decided victory for 'our' side.

As a country we've fallen madly in love with contentiousness, vulgarity, stupidity, sort-sightedness and selfishness.

Not much hope in that.

It was very clear.that The State Dept is so hung up on Barack Hussain, that these Obammies won't give a hoot about any of it.

@These people attacked AMERICAN'S on American soil

That's actually a common misconception. Diplomatic missions do not enjoy extraterritorial status under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and US Embassies are not on 'American soil'.

What they are is inviolable:

"The premises of the mission shall be inviolable. The agents of the receiving State may not enter
them, except with the consent of the head of the mission."

That does not grant extraterritorial sovereignty. If you (an American without diplomatic immunity) were to enter the American Embassy in Paris and kill a Frenchman (or American)there, you would be guilty of murder in France, and subject to the laws and criminal system of France, not the United States.

But I do get your point.

What was violated was Art 22. Section 2:

The receiving State is under a special duty to take all appropriate steps to protect the premises of the mission against any intrusion or damage and to prevent any disturbance of the peace of the mission or impairment of its dignity.

Cheers!

The Top 5 Things You Need To Know Before Tonight's Debate (besides Ryan is a liar):

1. Romney and Ryan would eliminate health care for 31 million people who are poor or disabled. Medicaid, which helps poor Americans, some seniors, and children afford health care, is right in the crosshairs of Paul Ryan’s House budget. He proposed cutting $1.4 trillion from the program, a move that would kick about 11 million people off Medicaid over the course of ten years. The Romney-Ryan plan is even worse, and is estimated to force about 44 million people off the program.

2. Ryan considers Social Security a “Ponzi Scheme.” In the Fall of 2011, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) called Social Security a “Ponzi scheme,” and Paul Ryan agreed. Ryan wants to privatize the program.

3. Ryan and Romney cannot cut taxes across the board by 20% and lower the deficit because it’s mathematically impossible. Ryan claims they will achieve these twin goals by closing loopholes and getting rid of deductions for the rich. But, as the Tax Policy Center points out, even if they got rid of every single deduction and loophole, they would still need to find more revenue. That means they’d need to start raising taxes on the middle class.

4. Ryan wants to kick 1 million students off of Pell Grants. As part of his budget, Ryan proposed cutting Pell Grants for nearly 1 million college students. Seventy four percent of Pell Grant recipients in 2011 came from families with incomes of $30,000 or less. There is no evidence that these cuts will curb rising college costs.

5. Ryan’s budget included the same $716 billion in Medicare savings included in Obamacare. The $716 billion that Obamacare takes out of Medicare will almost definitely come up in tomorrow’s debate. Ryan has claimed that Obama “raided” Medicare to pay for his health care reform. In fact, Ryan wants to make Medicare a voucher program and proposed taking the same cuts out of Medicare in his budget. But whereas Obamacare uses those funds to eliminate fraud and increase efficiency, Ryan proposed taking that money to pay down the deficit.

You talking points are laughable, best of all you've admitted Obama has slashed $716 billion from Medicare! Thanks for proving Romney right!

#3 is bogus. How do I know? because the leftwing Tax Policy Center did not do the study they use to make their bogus claim, a Princeton economist did.

Wanna know what he has to say about Obama's lying claim?

But Princeton economist Harvey Rosen told The Huffington Post in an interview on Tuesday that there is no way that this claim is accurate. "My paper doesn't say it, doesn't imply it," Rosen said.

He said that, if anything, his paper reached the opposite conclusion about Romney's tax plan. "The paper shows that if you look at individual taxpayers with incomes of $200,000 or more, there is sufficient revenue from base broadening and growth to make up for the revenue lost from lower tax rates. Therefore, there is no need to make up revenue from groups with below $200,000."

I'm leaving these up because they are so laughably wrong.

DUDE! You aren't even coherent.

2. The trust fund ratio, which indicates the number of years of program cost that could be financed solely with current trust fund reserves, peaked in 2008, declined through 2011, and is expected to decline further in future years. After 2020, Treasury will redeem trust fund assets in amounts that exceed interest earnings until exhaustion of trust fund reserves in 2033, three years earlier than projected last year.

"Ryan’s Medicare cuts were solely used to extend the solvency of the Medicare trust fund, and not to fund new spending elsewhere. By contrast, Obamacare cut $716 billion from Medicare in order to fund $1.9 trillion in new health care spending"

"Mitt Romney is not campaigning on the Ryan budget. He’s campaigning on his own budget, which fully repeals Obamacare, and eliminates that law’s Medicare cuts."

You're wrong Sliver. Ryan (and Romney) is claiming that Obamacare siphons off $716 billion from Medicare, to the detriment of Medicare beneficiaries. In actuality, that money is saved primarily through reducing over-payments to insurance companies under Medicare Advantage, cutting waste fraud and abuse, and eliminating inefficiencies in the system. Ryan’s budget plan keeps those same cuts, but directs them toward tax cuts for the rich and deficit reduction.
