People can stand up and make sound arguments for gay marriage, while bashing Mormons and Catholics. All well and good, it’s a free country, and no one on the religious right has shouted for them to be shut up. We respect the rights of others to disagree loudly and publicly with what we believe. It’s a free marketplace of ideas, and lively debate is good for society.
But a dark presence overshadows that marketplace of ideas. It is the noxious, pustule-covered presence of the doctrinaire, dogmatic, un-liberal left.
Mr Cathy, owner of Chick-Fil-a, made comments supporting traditional marriage. Nowhere in those comments did he disparage gay people, yet he and his company now have a baying pack of rabid progressive hounds on their trail, determined to shut him up and shut down his business. How liberal is that?
Meanwhile, gay provocateurs are determined to rub our noses in it, promising in-your-face agitprop in the form of gay “kiss ins” in front of Chick-Fil-A’s across the country. That’s sure to get the hated rightwingchristians on their side! And are they really so disconnected that they think such an immature idea is going to outrage anyone? We've been inundated with Hollywood sewage for decades now. Nothing shocks anymore, especially something as innocuous and pedestrian as two guys or two gals kissing.
Idiots like Chicago Mayor Rahm Emannuel insist Chick-Fil-a “is not Chicago values.” Mr Cathy should take that as a compliment. Right after that pronouncement, Rahm embraced hatred-spewing serpent Louis Farakkan, who does reflect corrupt Democrat Chicago values.
Then comes the Mayor of Beantown, Thomas Menino saying it will be very hard for Chick-Fil-A to get a permit to operate in Boston unless they change their policies. That is both un-American and ignorant. Chick-Fil-A discriminates against no one, and so far as we know, follows all labor laws, so what could he be talking about?
This is the new, illiberal, intolerant left, folks. You’re not allowed to hold an opinion that deviates from their dogma. You will be anathematized and driven from the public square. Meanwhile, they are free to spew dirty hatred upon the unorthodox heretics and shove their beliefs in everyone’s faces, and it’s all OK.
Not only is Boston and Chicago’s posturing stupid, it's probably illegal as well. Imagine the opposite: A conservative mayor tells a restaurant owned by a loud gay rights advocate who attacks Christianity that it is not welcome in his city and he won’t get a permit.
So who’s intolerant and hateful? It sure as hell ain’t the Christian Right. It is the noisy, illiberal left.

Great job of describing exactly what this is all about and the hypocrisy that is embedded. Can you just imagine if your example were true? The resulting uproar would be akin to WW III. No end of it would be heard, yet these liberal hypocrites think they have the right to block permits for Chik-fil-A. It's disgusting.

Is he black? So you took the time to notice this? Why? Why waste your time to even take notice.
It’s not because of the color of his skin, but the content of character … it’s because he’s a European socialist."
Mark, are you really going to try and reason with this Black Racist Moron?
These people call me (us) "White boy," "Cracker," 'Honkey," "Whitey,", ... and that's OK. nobody care or gives a crap, If you are black it's acceptable but you dare and use the "N" word , or call them "Boy" and man are you in trouble.
And just try to start a Miss "White" America contest. Or a Organization for "Whites" only! Or a "White" news station.
So don't try to reason with these nuts. They are only here to start trouble.
What a minute. Isn't this one of those businesses that didn't build their own way to success? There for the liberals are boycotting the very business government built... according to Obama, anyways... :)
Once again, liberal/progressives tearing down businesses and their owners.
Support your friends, PUNISH your enemies! It's the ancient Greek view of the legitimate USES of power... where the various "city-states" were in a state of "perpetual war".
Wasn't it Mitt Romney who said " The Private sector is doing fine, I'm NOT concerned with them"?.
I have to tell you folks that I was a bit doubtful of President Obama in the last Presidential race, only because I didn't think that he was experienced enough. . I have to say though we have come a long way and I support our President 100% and have even donated money this time around. He is far better than your candidate when it comes to helping ALL the people, not just a "select" group.
His opponent Mitt Romney betrays equality on numerous issues and aligns himself with a faction of the Republican Party that does not include equality.
You righties wants to make the president a scapegoat for all of America's woes and problems.. Well it just ain't so. America's problems didn't happen over night, they happened in the past 8 to 12 years, when your "Dear leader " George W. Bush was in office and he led us into 2 very expensive and meaningless wars.
You can laugh about it or deny it but the facts are there, President Obama inherited an economy with huge deficits, skyrocketing health care costs, and dwindling employment, and things like that can not be fixed in 3 years. Not when it took 8 years to get us in that ugly mess.
I thought I told Google no political ads...
No, Mitt Romney did not say that, your hero Comandante Zero did.
You're wasting your time here Ezz.
Stay on topic or you're zapped.
Surprisingly, some letest are appaled by this behavior. Mother Jones of all places had thei to say:
"...there's really no excuse for Emanuel's and Menino's actions. If you don't want to eat at Chick-fil-A, don't eat there. If you want to picket them, go ahead. If they violate the law, go after them. But you don't hand out business licenses based on whether you agree with the political views of the executives. Not in America, anyway."
Right after that pronouncement, Rahm embraced hatred-spewing serpent Louis Farakkan, who does reflect corrupt Democrat Chicago values.

Somebody pissed in Silverfiddle's corn flakes.
Menino has backed off his statement by the way. The intolerant left got him to back off without much effort.
Now go back and contemplate the cause of your fixation with gays.
Yes Silver, they are just that disconnected. There is no understanding the rationale of the neo-liberal progressive mind. Indeed intolerance is a defining hallmark of the neo-liberal. Any idea or beliefs different than their own must be snuffed.
Laughable really. Were it not so damn dangerous. I hesitate to mention history...
I heard somewhere that August 1 is Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day. I'm not sure, but I think that this appreciation day was established before this recent controversy erupted.
I'm betting that August 1 will be seeing mass gay kiss-ins as well as a lot of business for Chick-Fil-A.
No Chik-fil-a appreciation day here.
It's Boston, you eat a roast beef sandwich. No chicken sandwich joints in sight.
SF..excellent post.
"no one on the religious right has shouted for them to be shut up.."
Exactly right...
Ducky:
It was the tolerant, sane left that got them to back off.
One of the links I provide is to Kevin Drum, who said pretty much what Mother Jones said.
I am heartened to see there are still pockets of sanity on the left.

I don't believe Mr Cathy should have made any comment. He had very little to do with Chick-fil-A because after all "If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”
The only group who can voice an opinion is the left. Because of his beliefs Mr Cathy won't even let his stores open on Sunday. He is a man of conviction which is something liberals can't understand.
Emanuel, a Jew, embraces Farrakhan, a Jew hater because he has no standards that he will not compromise.
Why do the liberals who go of their meds end up here?
Emanuel isn't a Jew, maybe his mother was, but he's one by name only
They follow Chaw here'
In the beginning of all this, my favorite line from Menino was: : “We’re an open city. We’re a city that’s at the forefront of inclusion. That’s the Freedom Trail. That’s where it all started right here. And we’re not going to have a company, Chick-fil-A or whatever the hell the name is, on our Freedom Trail.”
The Baptist Press was interviewing Dan Cathy when he said that his company is a family owned business, family led business, and one that subscribes to biblical teachings. He said the owners of Chick-fil-A are all married to their first wives; he said he closes his restaurants on the Sabbath. I do not believe he once mentioned homosexuals.
Typically, the Los Angeles Times ran a headline proclaiming Chick-fil-A guilty of being anti-gay marriage —which was enough to send flappers out to protest at Chick-fil-A restaurants. You really can’t make this stuff up.
Clearly, this is a manufactured crises intending to marshal the inmates in advance of November. The left is controlling this narrative, so it is about the rights of gay people, whatever that means. If we are paying attention, this issue has nothing whatever to do with homosexual marriage, but it does provide us with a clear view of progressive government. It shows us what abusive government looks like. No one in the media is calling Emanuel and Menino on this … not even the so-called conservative media.

"Mr Cathy, owner of Chick-Fil-a, made comments supporting traditional marriage. Nowhere in those comments did he disparage gay people"
Where is, what he actually said?
Another Repunliscum lie.
Good try David Karish, now get back to Silverville, the children are waiting for you to kill them
If your looking for intolerance and hate, just read this blog.
Where is your criticism of Romney"s lie, saying Holms bought all his killing gear illegally?
“We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that. We operate as a family business ... our restaurants are typically led by families; some are single. We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that.” —Dan Cathy, as reported in the Huffington Post
HuffPo continues, “The fast-food chain's commitment has included millions of dollars donated to anti-gay groups and causes, including the Marriage & Family Foundation and the Family Research Council, according to Business Insider. The company's WinShape Foundation also has refused to admit gay couples to marriage counseling. Last year, Chick-fil-A cosponsored a marriage conference with the Pennsylvania Family Institute, which lobbied against a state effort to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. In another interview on the Ken Coleman Show, Cathy suggested that the nation could face God's wrath for supporting gay marriage. That's pretty strong, incendiary language.”
Apparently, the left only supports language they agree with, which is how one defines fascism.
Hey Mustang, if you've been paying attention (real doubtful) you know that Menino backed off on his statement and had no support from the beginning.
Now both Jersey and I felt it was a dumb position and stated that it should be left to personal choice whether or not to buy a Chic-fil-a.
Remember, the left is here to help you get your face out of Leviticus and live the life of the mind.
Thanks, Ducky. If you were paying attention (real doubtful), you will note that I was quoting Huffington Post, not Menino. Remember, the right is here to help you get your face out of Obama’s ass and live the life of the mind. As far as Menino is concerned, it's nice he “backed off” his statement. He shouldn’t have made it to begin with. Don’t worry, we realize how hard it is to control what National Socialists say from one moment to the next.
the left is here to help you get your face out of Leviticus
No, the left would like to make everyone's personal choices for them. Kinda like the shutting down of outside phone lines and the criminalization of listening to foreign radio broadcasts. See: Nazi Germany, with a nice little happy face.
live the life of the mind

Activists of ALL stripes -- Gay, Straight, Black, Jewish, Hispanic, Female, Crippled, Retarded, Safety Freaks, and otherwise should give this cautionary tale a thorough reading:
The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish
By the very edge of the blue sea lived an old man and his old woman. For three and thirty years they had lived in a tumbledown hut made of mud. The old man caught fish in his fishing net; the old woman span with her spinning wheel.
One day the old man cast his net and all he caught in his net was slime. The old man cast his net a second time and all he caught in his net was weed. A third time the old man cast his net and what he found in his net was a fish no ordinary fish, but a golden fish.
The fish begged, the fish begged and implored; the fish prayed in a human voice: “Release me, set me free in the sea and in return you'll receive a grand ransom, I'll grant you whatever you wish.”
The old man was amazed and frightened ...

The ACLU got this one right.
"The government can regulate discrimination in employment or against customers, but what the government cannot do is to punish someone for their words,” said Adam Schwartz, senior attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois. “When an alderman refuses to allow a business to open because its owner has expressed a viewpoint the government disagrees with, the government is practicing viewpoint discrimination.”
"What the government cannot do is to punish someone for their words.”
- Adam Schwartz, American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois
" ... if a government can exclude a business for being against same-sex marriage, it can also exclude a business for being in support of same-sex marriage."
Amen KP. And I'm glad to see Jersey and Ducky get that as well.
Truly, Silverfiddle, we aren't fans of arbitrary power either.
There is absolutely no evidence that Chic-fil-a has ever refused to serve gay customers. I don't know about hiring and I'll guarantee that would be tested quickly in Boston but they seem to be decent employers.
Menino was out of line and he knows it.
It's nothing more than a tempest in a gizzard.

One question:
How would the powers that be at Chik-Fil-A ever KNOW if homosexuals were eating at their restaurants?
Gay people don't have horns or grow tails or breathe fire through their nostrils. In most cases they look like everybody else, EXCEPT when they are deliberately making an obnoxious spectacle of themselves with grotesque, theatrically affected caricatures of feminine behavior or -- in the case of diesel dykes -- doing a bad imitation of rowdy truckers, ditch diggers, steelworkers and telephone linemen, etc.
What most don't seem to want to realize is the VAST difference between "ACTIVISTS" and people who merely want to live quiet middle class lives in an atmosphere of respectability.
Just as most blacks, thank God, are not like Malik "Zulu" Shabazz, Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, P. Diddy Coombs, Al Sharpton, John Conyers or Alcee Hastings, most homosexuals do not behave like the "demonstrators," screaming queens, and other weirdos who do drag shows and all the rest of that crap.
To assume the stereotypical, popularly held caricature of any group is truly representative of the whole is as stupid as it is is uncharitable.
~ FreeThinke
There's a few things with this whole debacle that are insanely ridiculous.
1. That we live in a society that supposedly espouses the wonders of free speech and thought, yet simultaneously tries to stifle those principles.
2. That given this condition, this moron still thought it'd be a good idea to go on the record and say something that he knew would be contentious.
The response to this is just plain stupid. I mean honestly, Chic fil-a doesn't represent "Chicago values," so they're not going to be allowed to expand there? Talk about government corruption: threatning to stymie a business because the owner's political views don't jive with your own.
The sad part is that Rahm Emmanuel is going to get away with it. Sorry, but the last time I checked I thought that political views had NOTHING to do with whether or not your business would be allowed to expand in this country.
All of you are free to boycott Chick-Fil-A to your heart's content. That's your right. But we've crossed the line when government steps in and penalizes a private citizen for his personal beliefs.
"and no one on the religious right has shouted for them to be shut up."
Silver, now you know that isn't true. "Hateful intolerance" runs pretty rampant on the the religious right, including the very groups Cathy donates to, which is why some people are acting against him. I disagree with them, but let's not pretend the religious right is some bastion of tolerance and love.
JMJ
There are bigots everywhere, but if we're being honest here, the right is not the hating, censoring prigs the left makes us out to be.
Compare and contrast:
Radical imam OK but not Chick-fil-A
Given his stance on Chick-fil-A, would Mayor Tom Menino grant permits to a group that has counted among its leaders a man who has repeatedly called homosexuality a “crime that must be punished” by death?
Actually, he has done that . . . and more! Menino effectively gave away city land valued at $1.8 million to the organization, and he gave a speech at its ribbon-cutting ceremony.
It’s the Islamic Society of Boston’s mosque, and when it comes to anti-gay sentiment, one of its early supporters makes Chick-fil-A look like the Provincetown Men’s Chorus....
More at the above link.
FT...I think the point is that the Chick-Fil-A people don't CARE if gays are eating at their restaurant, right?
AOW "Compare and Contrast" excellent info. Yes, if it's a Christian group saying only that they're more for traditional marriage, it's hell to pay, if it's a muslim group "let's pay them" for thinking homosexuality should be punishable BY DEATH. GOod, Boston Mayor, REALLY GOOD. (geeeZ!)
Some are, Silver, and you know that. Just the same, yes, of course you're right. Heck, I remember the PMRC!

Unless you're trying to build a mosque or a Muslim community center.
Ducky: That's quite a charge to level at all those Manhattanites who came out to public meetings to protest that mosque being built so close to ground zero.
See? People like you cannot consider that someone with a different opinion holds is legitimately and without malice.

But, seriously...Steve.. can you show where intolerance and hatred abound on this blog? Thanks.
Do you even consider what the left did to Chick-Fil-A based on wrong information? And is that ok with you?
Mustang.....great comment! HA!
Mr. Cathy certainly got it wrong here at the end of his statement: “We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit,” he said. “We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that … we know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles.”
Ya, share and operate until the leftwingers decide your viewpoints don't count. Then, you're boycotted...and that's fine with them.
SF refused to print what the owner actually said, yet, was willing to call the left intolerant and hateful for what he said.
Maybe what he said, was hateful and intolerant. We won't know reading this blog
"and we are married to our first wives"
Little shot at Mormons there.
Love the way you also avoid what libs are upset about, and cherry pick his statement to falsely accuse libs of being against the family.
Can you ever tell the truth?
THIS may be the interview with Cathy -- the interview that started the firestorm.
Note this portion from the above link I just left:
Some have opposed the company's support of the traditional family. "Well, guilty as charged," said Cathy when asked about the company's position.
Maybe I missed it, but I don't see the words "gay marriage" in that article.
Is there some other interview that I haven't found?
Steve: "Can you ever tell the truth?"
Do you actually think that if he had said something more onerous than what was printed, it wouldn't have been quoted in Huff-Po?
The truth will be far more readily apparent when you learn how to read. And think.
AOW: "... I don't see the words "gay marriage" in that article.
Because it isn't there. In fact the only use of the word 'gay' on the entire page is in a link to an article about the gay pride parade.
I think Ms. Shaw is probably right, only I would have gne even farther and phrased it this way:
This trivial story of fabricated moral outrage is nothing more than a BLIZZARD in a GIZZARD. ;-)
This is The Game everyone on both sides is playing nowadays:
Seize upon some stray remark that has the potential to be EXPLOITED for political advantage, and then work it to death in the media, until finally it either gets driven into the ground -- or the NEXT stupid simulated sensation comes along to take its place.
If I remember correctly, this sort of tactic started when poor John Vliet Lindsay -- a liberal Republican -- had the unmitigated gall to get himself elected Mayor of New York City.
He had barely been sworn in when the D'Rats started to make Herculean efforts to destroy him -- starting with a strike by the Sanitation Department that left garbage piled shoulder height all over the city that stank to high heaven for weeks.
In the midst of the fray Lindsay -- a handsome, blond patrician fellow of middle years -- had the temerity to say, "I think New York is a Fun City."
You might have thought he'd said something like, "The Virgin Mary Was a Whore" or" Jesus Christ Was a Pedophile" for all the furor his innocent, good-natured remark caused. For at least THREE YEARS every time New York City came into the news it was derisively called "Fun City."
We've been treated to ess-aitch-eye-tea like that in one form or another ever since.
Beware the Enemedia! It is desperately wicked.

Just what has the left done?
Are they suffering any damages?
Other than taking the opportunity to point out that "family values" is a dog whistle for the homophobic there wasn't much here.
As Shaw says, "tempest in a teapot".
@SF refused to print what the owner actually said, yet, was willing to call the left intolerant and hateful for what he said.
Steve, we're not here to spoon feed you. Cathey's comments are publically and readily available, as illustrated by Mustang who posted them for you.
The post is about the response to Cathey's comments, not about the comments themselves. Forgive us for presuming you actually knew what Cathey said before shooting your mouth off.
@"and we are married to our first wives" Little shot at Mormons there.
Are you really that dense?
@I guess you are the one who needs to learn to read.
Bore me later.
@Just what has the left done?
Government officials threatening private businesses based on their speech?
@As Shaw says, "tempest in a teapot".
You mean like you being routed by the cops over your ID?
Can we get a consistency check on reactions to the abuse of government power here?
Ducky, this says a lot about you.... "family values" is a dog whistle for the homophobic there wasn't much here."
No, it's not. It's teaching your family to have respect even for those you don't agree with. (yes, even muslims, ducky)
The VP of PR for Chick-Fil-A suffered a fatal heart attack today. I hope we don't read TOO many celebratory comments all over the leftwing blogosphere....let this not be another Tony Snow moment.
@ Steve
Quoted by Mustang, and quoted by Z, before you accused SF of 'cherry picking', and the entire article from Baptist Press linked by AOW. And as Finntann said, the post is about the reaction not the quote itself.
Still need to work on that swing.
No, it's not. It's teaching your family to have respect even for those you don't agree with. (yes, even muslims, ducky)
---
Once again, "family values" and the implication that the left doesn't have values is a dog whistle for the fringe right and their obsession with homosexuality.
Tie a can on in Finntann. I don't know what went down in Chicago but in Boston, Menino got no support from anyone and has been forced to retract.
No harm was done to Chic-fil-a.
Nice try, Ducky. I’ve never seen anyone as obsessed with homosexual behavior as you. I estimate nine of your ten favorite metaphors involve some reference to the aberrant lifestyle. Still, I don’t want to judge you too harshly; it may not have anything to do with your personal choices —but rather the manner of your upbringing.
Mustang, exactly right about Ducky and a gay obsession.
Re Chick-Fil-A, I'm reading that instead of harm, people are standing by their right to their opinion. Some Americans think that's really important.
and, no, Ducky......nobody said leftingers have no values...I said that conservative, Christian values include allowing others to have the right to voice their opinions...but how would you know that when you're so steeped in indoctrination that only the left's ever right?
Not to be outdone by Boston and Chicago, Philadelphia City Councilman Jim Kenney has joined the chorus.
http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2012/07/26/councilman-blasts-chick-fil-a-prez-for-comments-against-gay-marriage/
While he claims to be expressing his personal opinion, he has done so on City of Philadelphia letterhead.
While I agree that it's pretty much a tempest in a teacup, it isn't the Right stirring the pot.
@As Shaw says, "tempest in a teapot".
I actually said "tempest in a gizzard."
You mean like you being routed by the cops over your ID?
When that happened, my family and I were stopped, without probable cause, had a flashlight thrust in our faces, and were asked by the cops where we had been and where we were going. A direct violation of the Constitution.
Not the same as a mayor saying a fast food chicken joint was not welcome in town, and then retracted his huge mistake.
None of the cops in the baracade apologized nor acknowledge their egregious trampling of the constitution.
"Can we get a consistency check on reactions to the abuse of government power here?"
Sure we can, once you understand the meaning of proportionality in government abuses.
Yeah, asking to see someone's ID is the equivalent of threatening to deny permits to a legitimate business...
koo koo, koo koo, koo koo
Major problem... what the other side does
"tempest in a gizard' what your side does.
I get it.
And for the record, this conservative opposes random and checkpoint stops, the Patriot Act, TSA, and any number of other crypto-fascist progressive initiatives.
Here is a classical example of political corruption:
"Moreno said he has an ace in his back pocket if he runs into legal trouble: traffic and congestion issues caused by the store that have been the subject of behind-the-scenes negotiations for the last nine months. "
So, if he can't do it legally, he'll do it anyway using some other excuse.
The Chicago Way, Nice.
How about this one:
BOYCOTT CHICAGO
Do you even consider what the left did to Chick-Fil-A based on wrong information?
-------
First off, what damages has Chic-fil-a suffered? It's widely known that he's a fundamentalist. Nothing has been revealed and if he wants to open in Boston he has a better chance now than ever.
Wrong information? What wrong information? That he funnels large sums to groups like the Family Research Council, a great force for unity.
Let's not whitewash this guy.
Mustang, exactly right about Ducky and a gay obsession.
-----
How do you discuss the Chic-fil-a to do without bringing up the topic of gay marriage?
News about Chick-Fil-A.
"Yeah, asking to see someone's ID is the equivalent of threatening to deny permits to a legitimate business..."
Finntan, the stop-and-search-and asking-where-are-you-going actually happened. And it happened to a lot of people over a period of time.
A threat--at least by Mayor Menino--was not carried out, was retracted, and acknowledged that it was wrong.
No comparison.
Get it now?
You and the host here needed something to whine about to distract people from Romney's actions in Britain.
The Left must CRUSH their enemies.
The truth about gays CANNOT be allowed to slip out...
As the government and especially Moocheel Obama continues to assault our Constitutional liberties we find things such as the bashing Mormons and Catholics and now the marketplace like Chick-Fil-a, and other branded products getting hit.
Liberals such as Moocheel are always in favor of banning things like Trans fats, Happy Meals, Plastic bags, Guns, Lightbulbs, salt, sugar, bags of popcorn, Smoking, MacDonald, KFC Etc, and big Gulp sodas, liberals loved banning things why don't they think about BANNING themselves from conservative blogs?..
When these liberals begin dictating to us and banning our preferred method of the foods we like, or the grocery’s we buy, or even the room-illumination and especially our dining choices, then they’re not only infesting our homes and lives with roach-like familiarity, they’re kicking out the legs of our freedoms of choice.
Most people like myself don’t give a crap about what the First Lady thinks or says.
America was founded on the principles of liberty and freedom. The left embraces principles the furthest from this. They want control over our entire lives, even our thoughts, the government must get OUT of my personal business.
People like these progressives on this board think that w are against the Obama’s because of the color of the president's skin. Well make no mistake about it, I won’t vote for him or any liberal even if he was as white as snow.
Let these Liberals/Socialist/Communists/Leftist/Marxist/ that visit this site unleash their torrent of lies somewhere else. The left needs to leave the rest of us alone. Maybe they should consider relocating to Cuba or N. Korea. I’m sure they would dictate your life to your satisfaction.
Shaw,
I am happy to see that you, Finntann and I all share a common view of our battered 4th Amendment.
But Finn does have a point. Capricious government poobahs exercising their power based on their whims and political cant instead of the plain letter of the law is also an abuse.
Oh please, don't get me started.
It never ceases to amaze me just how 'tolerant' these liberals, or progressives or whatever the hell they call themselves today (I'll just call them intolerant bigoted hypocrites) , can be of others....And that’s why liberals drive me crazy..
The owners of this company have the right to have whatever opinion they choose, and if the Liberal, Progressive Imbeciles don't like it, then they can boycott it as they always do. .
I don't hire people who have kids. They are to expensive. Always coming in late, or wanting to leave early. I have to schedule my business around their family lives, not my business demands. I have to pay weeks of maternity leave, and have no worker on site. Their health care costs are higher than single employees costs. And I always have to explain to my single workers why parents are getting benefits they are not. I find parents to be the most disruptive employees to my business, than any other employee I have.
Steve, you are an IDIOT.
You are an insulting jackass
"I'm A Concervitive Hear Me Roar said...
As the government and especially Moocheel Obama continues to assault our Constitutional liberties..."
Can IACHMR actually tell us what legislation the First Lady managed to propose and get passed in Congress that takes away Americans' liberties?
IACHMR's baseless rant is meaningless, but I suppose its better that IACHMR lets off his/her paranoid frustrations here rather than sticking a fork in his/her eye.
It is no leap in logic to think that Michelle has a profound influence with her husband. It is also likely that whenever Michelle speaks out about such issues as obesity and diet, people listen. Mayor Bloomberg did. We may all agree that 16 oz. sodas are a bad idea, particularly if you are already a fat slob and teeter on the brink of Type II diabetes. On the other hand, conservatives reject the idea of a nanny state and think that Bloomberg and others should piss off.
By the way, who could ever imagine the incongruity of leftists supporting deviant and patently unhealthy lifestyle choices, while demanding an end to large sized colas? Here’s an idea: perhaps Michelle should focus more on ending her husband’s smoking before taking on the challenges of denying others their freedom to choose.
Ducky "How do you discuss the Chic-fil-a to do without bringing up the topic of gay marriage?"
not sure. But that wasn't the point....Mustang's point is how very, very often you infer gayness into so many subjects that didn't warrant it. It's often quite weird.
By the way,Chick-Fil-A hires gays and serves gays. This is the president's PERSONAL OPINION. I'm sorry liberals have such difficulty with allowing that.
Bravo Sam. These leftist morons don't think that way , they would rather not pass up a good chance to boycott
Though I strongly disagree with Cathey's statement on a personal level......the implication by elected representatives to use their personal opinion as an economic bludgeon is despicable.
What's more interesting to me is the furor around this issue....that somehow boycotts by groups on the left are any different than those conducted by groups on the right.
Add to that, both sides playing the victimization card. It would be entertaining if it weren't so pathetic.
"Michelle should focus more on ending her husband’s smoking before taking on the challenges of denying others their freedom to choose."
There it is. Huntington expecting a wife to stop her husband's habit. I thought people like him believed in taking personal responsibility for one's actions and not expecting someone else to.
Mrs. Obama has not done anything close to what your fevered paranoia suggests. She hasn't taken away your ability to choose a fat-soaked piece of feces infused hamburger on a soggy bun accompanied by your favorite super-sized caramel colored suger water.
If that's your idea of having freedom to choose, by all means choose it with gusto! Michelle Obama isn't stopping you.
The Kool-Aid drinking crowd here and I’d use Shaw Kenawe as a perfect example seem to always are finding excuses for Obamakhan... just in case" he loses reelection.
The Democrats have been doing a real fine job destroying this country And in another ten years or less they will have completely bankrupt what was once the sixth largest economy in the world with their overspending and ignorant policies.
Yeah, the Kool-Aid drinking socialist tree-hugging atheists, love to blame others for the failures that their Marxist Messiah
Ralphie and his sock puppets are everywhere.
You Progressives are Gullible idiots! What is so impressive about a Big Butt?
@ Constitutional Insurgent: Add to that, both sides playing the victimization card.
Both sides do, but in this case, pointing out abuse of power is not playing the victim card.
No one on the right is seeking redress or refuge in special status conferred by the state.
All we're asking for is free access to the marketplace for all, regardless of beliefs or ideology.
SF - "No one on the right is seeking redress or refuge in special status conferred by the state."
Perhaps you're speaking of the micro as opposed to the macro......but to the macro, the right certainly is - marriage.
I'm talking about Chick-Fil-A, and saying that no one who is defending them is playing the victim card.
Yes, ultimately, it is about what relationships our society confers a special status upon, but no one here is playing the victim card.
Fiddle- It's been a few weeks brother. I must say you get some long threads going here.
Anyway, in the Sun Times today, Mayor Emmanuel has come out and said he will not block any building permits for Chic-Fil-A, if they want to build here in the city. Of course he already inserted his foot. The guy is a joke. And to answer some bloggers, Emanuel is 100% Jewish. The reason he placates to Farakhan is simple. He's a piece of S##t. He knows Farakhan helps get these Liberals elected, so he'll cozy up to him. All the while knowing that Louie hates his very existence.
Not only will CFA serve homosexuals, they will hire them too. My nephew (A openly gay kid) has worked at CFA part time for 9 months now.
Some of the causes that elected Liberal officials take up, are nothing more than pathetic.
You got politics in my chicken.
You got chicken in my politics.
Some people get it, some people don't.
NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg: "Freedom of speech -- everybody's in favor of it as long as it's what they want to hear. Well, the only way that you have your freedom of speech is if you give other people freedom of speech."
Philadelphia Councilman Jim Kenney: "American civil liberties are not ordained by religion, they're ordained by a free and democratic government.
Ordain: To establish or order by appointment, decree, or law.
So I suppose we really ought to be thanking Mr. Kenney for granting us our rights?
To the contrary, government power is ordained by the people, not the other way around. Mr. Kenney of Philadelphia ought to take a trip down to Independence Mall and learn something of that.
SF Mayor Ed Lee: "Closest Chick Fil A to San Francisco is 40 miles away and I strongly recommend they not try to come any closer."
Ken Coleman: "Tolerance is defined as a "fair, objective and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, differ from one's own. Increasingly, we see a well-oiled publicity machine that is redefining tolerance as, "either you agree with me or you need to button your lips." Those who throw the labels of intolerance and bigotry at those who share an opposing opinion are ironically modeling a glaring lack of tolerance."
Meanwhile, @ Ducky and Shaw:
Ducky @First off, what damages has Chic-fil-a suffered?
@Shaw: A threat--at least by Mayor Menino--was not carried out, was retracted, and acknowledged that it was wrong. No comparison. Get it now?
First, while I can admire Cathy's strength of conviction to publicly stick to his values, I don't admire his stupidity in injecting his politics and religion into his business model to the detriment of the independent owner/operators of Chick Fil A franchises.
The damages suffered to Chick Fil A from Cathy's comments are irrelevant to the political discourse, and between him, his shareholders, and his franchise owners. If you want to boycott Chick Fil A, fine... If you want to support Chick Fil A, that's fine too, me I prefer Popeye's.
The damage done to our political system, however, is relevant. Politicians threatening illegal, unconstitutional action damages the system whether the threats are carried out or retracted.
Let's look at Moreno in Chicago:
"Moreno said he has an ace in his back pocket if he runs into legal trouble: traffic and congestion issues caused by the store that have been the subject of behind-the-scenes negotiations for the last nine months. "
Now, suppose the Chick Fil A in Chicago really would cause traffic problems, and Moreno denies the division permit based on those problems.
No one will ever believe that Moreno didn't ban Chick Fil A for its opposition to Gay Marriage and government loses credibility with the people. In Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington DC, and Philadelphia all Chick Fil A permit applications will be viewed through this filter, and all denials will have a legal basis for appeal given the number of political imbeciles shooting off their mouths in this controversy.
No, Emmanuel, Moreno, Menino, Kenney, Lee, et. al. have damaged the system,
Cheers!
Can you IMAGINE the fracas that would ensue if it were discovered -- even at this late date -- that HOWARD JOHNSON was a pedophile who had developed his twenty-eight flavors of ice cream for the express purpose of corrupting the morals of a long series of minor male children?
Oh WHAT would we suddenly start to think of Norman Rockwells' charming, family-friendly illustrations if it were revealed that he had slept with every one of his models -- male, female, young and old alike -- while his wife cheered him on?
You did know, of course, that the original Ronald McDonald was an ardent sodomite, didn't you?
And that Joe Dimaggio was so insanely jealous he beat Marilyn Monroe with a steel cat o' nine tails every night before they had sex? It was the only way he could achieve penetration, poor man!
Pop "religious" icon of yesteryear, Aimee Semple MacPherson slept with Milton Berle too -- and THAT, dear friends, is no lie.

"A right-wing pastor has come to Chick-fil-A's defense, not only applauding the Atlanta-based fast food company for its anti-gay views but also claiming that same-sex marriage brought about the great flood referenced in the biblical narrative of Noah's ark."
NO, there aren't any wackos in the Republican party.
What sick fools
Republican statements on gays:
God gave AIDS to gays, to kill them for their sin of homosexuality.
Teletubbies are gay." (that was a good one)
Gays caused Noah's great flood. ( a new one just today)
God created gays for humanities sin of waging war.
I could go on, and of course these are true, because those who announced these idiotic statements, personally talked to God and God told them these things were true.
Your religion is an embarrassment to thinking, civil society. No wonder the numbers of believers, is dropping like a rock.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
I read in one thread, not sure where, but there are actually gay people supporting Chick-Fil-A's stance. And will be enjoying a meal there this coming Wednesday. Good for them.
As for those that will be showing public display, let them, it's boiling hot right now and maybe they will just melt. Just kidding.
They are sadly mistaken if they believe this is going to stop people from eating at this food place.
Or:
Steve gave AIDS to gays because they didn't want anything to do with him any more than the women in his life did.
Unattributed quoutes are about a valid as a well timed fart, which in your case would probably be the more rigorous intellectual argument.
Courtesy of Google:
No results found for "God gave AIDS to gays, to kill them for their sin of homosexuality.".
No results found for "Gays caused Noah's great flood"."
No results found for "God created gays for humanities sin of waging war."."
The teletubbies quote just led to a bunch of articles about how "gay" teletubbies are, with no attributable quote.
So... I guess they aren't quotes.
Be very very quiet, Steve is making an ass of himself.
Care to try again? With a little more academic rigor this time?

Pastor Aaron Fruh
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_FLap1Vyt0&feature=youtu.be
The Truth
According to the CBN website, the Interview took place on Thursday, September 13 (Some versions of the eRumor say it was Wednesday).
Both men spoke harshly of the terrorists and clearly blamed them for the attacks.
During a discussion about whether this crisis might bring revival to America, Jerry Falwell said God may have allowed what the nation deserved because of moral decay and said Americans should have an attitude of repentance before God and asking for God's protection. He specifically listed the ACLU, abortionists, feminists, gays, and the People For the American way as sharing in the blame. Pat Robertson responded with agreement.
Two conservative Christian ministers stated gays were responsible for 9/11 and God's judgement for America's moral decay.
Falwell and Robertson were and are recognized influential Christian leaders.
A right-wing pastor has come to Chick-fil-A's defense, not only applauding the Atlanta-based fast food company for its anti-gay views but also claiming that same-sex marriage brought about the great flood referenced in the biblical narrative of Noah's ark.
Aaron Fruh, a pastor at Knollwood Church in Mobile, Ala., spoke out against marriage equality on American Family Radio, challenging listeners to "find any society in human history that ever tried that experiment [of same-sex marriage] and lived to tell about it, they've all been destroyed," according to Right Wing Watch.
Thanks Shaw, but I don't go to far out of my way for these troglodytes. I have given proof to them before on many issues, and only get called a liar.
BBC: "The innocent world of the Teletubbies is under attack from America's religious right.
The Reverend Jerry Falwell, a former spokesman for America's Moral Majority, has denounced the BBC TV children's show. He says it does not provide a good role model for children because Tinky Winky is gay.
Finntann, you're awfully quick to call people an ass.
Steve is right.
What the hell is wrong with you? Does it make you feel powerful to denigrate people? If it does, you must live a very small life. Or you eat arrogance with your cornflakes every morning.
Steve is right.
I’m sure we all understand why Steve and Shaw feel compelled to silence those with whom they disagree. Their connection to a “nationalist socialist” sympathy is readily apparent. We should wonder why a fringe opinion matters, to anyone.
The most excellent point (above) was when Finntann wrote, “… while I can admire Cathy's strength of conviction to publicly stick to his values, I don't admire his stupidity in injecting his politics and religion into his business model to the detriment of the independent owner/operators of Chick Fil A franchises.”
His response is exceptional on several levels —and sage, but dismissed out of hand by the clowns. The “shouting down” of voices we disagree with is patently un-American, but it does fit nicely into Mr. Alinsky’s rules for the communist left. (1) Give the appearance of morality (even when it doesn’t actually exist). (2) Always assume an adversarial relationship with others. (3) Use ridicule to your advantage.
I cannot say this is the modus operandi of Steve; he simply isn’t that smart … but it is impossible not to notice Shaw’s snotty elitism on nearly every occasion of commenting at conservative blogs. I have no doubt she will advocate the arrest of anyone who disagrees with her. This is what fascists do.
.....and Godwin's Law is thus invoked.
Oh, I know the comments are out there, my point was to get Steve to attribute them.
"Falwell and Robertson were and are recognized influential Christian leaders."
I notice that the statement recognizes them as Christian leaders, not 'Republican' leaders.
Steve attributes the statements he lists as Republican statements, and they do not in any way represent mainstream Republican thought.
You should not attempt to define a group by its margins. I can drum up as many 'out there' comments from Democrats as Steve does for Republicans.
Beverly Purdue: “If those of us who hold office could be given a break from having to face voters, we could more freely consider what would be best for this country.”
So, the Democrats support setting aside democracy in order to implement their agenda?
Roseanne Barr: "I first would allow the guilty bankers to pay… back anything over 100 million in personal wealth because I believe in a maximum wage of 100 million dollars and if they’re unable to live on that amount then they should go to the reeducation camps, and if that doesn’t help, then be beheaded."
Democrats support reeducation camps for and execution of successful capitalists?
Ward Churchill, Jeremiah Wright, Al Sharpton, Fred Phelps... do you want the Democratic Party defined by its margins?
Godwin’s law falls apart when there is no hyperbole.
But there is hyperbole...as 'shouting down of voices of disagreement' is not confined to the left anymore than Godwin's law confined to the left or right.
You admit the statements are true, yet, call me an ass for highlighting them. What a dirt bag.
I used to give you guys proof, but was called dirty names and told I was lying.
I thought it was reasonable to forget the proof they won't believe whatever I say, and to return in kind the nasty way you guys address people.
You shouldn't expect better treatment than you give.
Jerry Falwell also said President Clinton killed a man. (you look it up I'm not here to do your homework, if you don't know, then by all means open your potty mouth, and leave no doubt you are an idiot).
Falwell, Robertson, and others were not on the fringe of the Republican party. I guess you were not paying attention back then, or stupidity has always been your character.
If not for groups like "The Moral Majority" and others, your Republican blowhard would never have been elected president.
I'm not your teacher, do your own homework.
If you write on political blogs, I expect you to have a BASIC level of the true past.
But since you don't know the true facts of today, I should hardly expect you to know real facts of History.
And I don't mean your distorted History, like Falwell and Robertson were on the fringe of the Republican party.
Robertson ran for president, or didn't you know that either?
@What the hell is wrong with you? Does it make you feel powerful to denigrate people?
What the hell is wrong with me?
What the hell is wrong with you?
Steve gets no more than he dishes, actually he gets less, because I will hold my tongue out of respect for SF and keep it at least semi-civil.
Have you read Steve's posts over the past week or so?
"Listen to what a member (you) of the Westboro Baptist Church says. Scum like you should have been one of the victims."
"Typical republiscum response"
"dumb shit Republicans "
"Sure glad I could enlighten you on the truth you ignorant, insulting traitor to America."
"I'm so out of line given the insulting, lying shit written on this vomit blog."
"while we have a good laugh about all you troglodytes."
"Keep piling up the lies you Westboro Baptist Church member."
"you and your ignorant readers "
"The proof we are not a polite society, is the words written by the hate filled bigots on this blog."
And SF deleted the worst of his rants.
And Steve... Fred Phelps is a DEMOCRAT, who received 31% of the DEMOCRATIC VOTE in the 1992 Kansas Primary for the US Senate and 15% of the DEMOCRATIC vote for Governor in the 1998 primary.
"The arrogance of the left has no equal."
@You admit the statements are true, yet, call me an ass for highlighting them.
I call you an ass for attempting to paint them as Republican views, you ass.
And don't lecture me on facts, you're the one who has his facts seriously screwed up.
Aaron Fruh? Yeah, that's mainstream republicanism. Sure got a lot of name recognition there.
@by all means open your potty mouth
Potty mouth? Your mouth is stinking cesspit of vulgarities. Pity, SF deleted most of them.
Robertson? He was also soundly defeated mustering less than 10% of the vote, hardly a "Republican" endorsement.
Shall I point out that Lyndon LaRouche ran for the Democratic Party nomination SEVEN times? Or didn't you know that either?
RH,
Except you.
You are a superior arrogant, condescending ass.
Finn, They were/are Republican view, you ass.
Well everyone, read the nasty attacks I was responding to, and again I respond in kind, no need to talk to you better than you talk to me.
And the Westboro Baptist Church protests soldier's funerals. WHY?
Check that out.
I'm not the only one you treat like shit, and I've been hear for a short time. I understand you jerks have been treating people like shit WAY before I came along.
You started it, but can't take it. More proof of your lies.
Can anyone point me to a media outlet that supported Menino and Emmanuel.
Haven't read an article or listened to a podcast that supports any threat to Chic-fil-a so I'm wondering how the fringe right got their knickers in such a knot.
We started it? What is this a playground?
You come in here and refer to us as: Idiots, Troglodytes, Westboro Baptist Church members, ignorant, traitors, liars, racists, bigots, and fuck heads? All before you and I have any negative interaction whatsoever, and you whine when you get bitch slapped?
Seriously, how did I treat you like shit before your foul-mouthed rants? All I did was point out that 60% of Democratic Senators and 40% of Democratic Congressmen supported the invasion of Iraq and you referred to me as the 'idiot who would blame the democrats for the invasion of Iraq'.
If you bray like a jackass, don't be surprised if someone throws a saddle on your back.
You obviously have years of practice of twisting the truth.
And years of not educating yourself just blowing rancid opinions out of your ass
And The Great American Weekend Pissathon goes on and on and on and on and on.
To quote the words of a rousing chorus in J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion:
"TO WHAT PURPOSE IS THIS WASTE?

Oh, I guess I should tell you, since no ever seems able to figure it out for himself in the buggersphere, that last post was satirical sarcasm too.
Frankly, that's all this thread deserves.
~ FT
Ducky, is anyone (other than FT) saying that the media is supporting Menino and Emmanuel?
I think SF acknowledged this with: "It was the tolerant, sane left that got them to back off."
If anything the media is strongly defending 1st amendment rights, and should be applauded. It is the media, left and right, that has all these politicians backpedalling furiously.
Time said it best with:
In the Chicago area, 42% of residents support same-sex marriage, while the same number, 42%, oppose it. (Indeed, Emanuel’s depiction of “Chicago values” is misleading; the city is divided on the issue of marriage.)
The right has its knickers in a knot over politicians threating political litmus tests in exercising the powers granted to the government by the people.
Cheers!
FT, think of it as a conversation on the front porch on a long sultry summer afternoon, sipping lemonade while idly swatting at an annoying gnat with your free hand.
Well Finntann, Silverfiddle titles his article "Hateful, Intolerant Liberals Attack Chick-Fil-A".
Now you can say that he's referring to Menino and Emmanuel but "baying pack of rabid progressive hounds on their trail" kind of gives it away.
He's referring to "the left" in a generic sense but there was no unity on the left over this and that fact should be enforced.
Hey Johnny, glad to see you're posting again back at The Island of Misfit Toys.
@ J.O.B:
Not only will CFA serve homosexuals, they will hire them too. My nephew (A openly gay kid) has worked at CFA part time for 9 months now.
Yeah, that's what I figured, and that's the way it should be. Thanks for the personal insight!
@ Ducky: Can anyone point me to a media outlet that supported Menino and Emmanuel.
There you go again, talking about team sports when the topic is first principles.
And Steve, I appreciate you keeping your vilest language in check. And keep attacking Finn, its entertaining watching him flay you and your pathetic pronouncements.
So how many delegates did Pat Robertson get, anyway?
Finn, the idiot, said Falwell and Robertson were on the fringe. Running for president, is not on the fringe.
Keep making yourself look like a jackass
Nice try though
Blogger Finntann said...

You've got one heck of a neighborhood... :-)
Spot on Silverfiddle! The so-called tolerant Left displays just how tolerant they really are. So much for diversity - diversity of beliefs and opinions. The Left likes their robots falling straight in line believing what their told to believe by the Democratic Party. Only liberal, immoral, jacktards would think "Chicago values" is a good thing. But progressives operate in an a$$ backwards manner.
OK Steve, then that makes Lyndon Larouche a mainstream Democrat.
And thanks for the laugh I get when you call Finntann an idiot.
A quick comparison of your comments and his quickly shows who the real idiot is and, hint, it ain't Finn, who always brings the facts and the links to back it up.
But anyway Steve, please keep it up. You're like those little comedy panels serious magazines insert in between the serious articles.
I'm off to Old Chicago to tie one on with my buddies from the dojo.
Have a good evening!
Steve, pulling 9% of the vote in a primary is fringe. It means 91% of the voters didn't like you.
But since you seem to think winning 9% of the vote in a Presidential Primary makes you mainstream, I'm sure you'll readily admit that Fred Phelps was a mainstream Democratic candidate for the senate in Kansas, with >30% of the vote.
Despite the name the Moral Majority was neither moral, nor a majority. It was just a slogan, you know, like Hope and Change.
Let me know when you want to stop digging, k?
Theresa - Ironically, that's basically the very reason I left thew GOP.
Funny how both parties are so alike......
We know your fact checking is just as bad, and you even had to apologize to your own readers for lying.
You ask for response on a quote, yet, you did not print the quote. There's idiocy for ya.
You swallow some unknown radio hosts lies and reprint them on your blog. As RN would say BINGO idiot alert.
Then of course was the retarded statement, that these kind of incidents (Colorado) did not happen 40 years ago.
Yes keep writing your intentional deceit and lies. I need a laugh daily.
Nice try again.
As usual you come up a little short, like most losers.
Do your own homework. But you can't/won't and just spread more lies.
You are to stupid and to lazy, which still doesn't make it my job to be your teacher.
@You are to stupid and to lazy, which still doesn't make it my job to be your teacher.
Good one, I suppose the irony of that statement is lost on you.
Never the matter, FT or Z will be along shortly to point it out.

What do you expect from the cretin who has singlehandedly replaced diverting discussion here at WH with despicable diatribe?
Right, all you and Z can come back with, is grammar mistakes
Proof of how weak your argument is.
Good night, dipshit
The noisy, illiberal left is exactly is annoying as the noisy, illiberal religious right.
Left and right meet back to back on a circle, Jez.
Always have, always will.
They are Rorschach images of one another.
We are literally circumscribed -- trapped in a deep, time-worn groove of circular thinking.
HIstory amounts to an unending vicious cycle -- a whirlpool really.
That's why no matter how much "science" we learn, how many nifty gadgets and "labor-saving devices" we invent or how many "miracle drugs" we discover the human condition never changes.
History is one endless series of variations on Dog Eat Dog and Might Makes Right.
Jesus Christ gave us everything needed to break free of circular downward thrust, but as a species we prefer our misery and degradation to the joy of Salvation.
That's why Marxism is more appealing than freedom to the majority. Lie the ancient Jews we prefer to entertain fantasies of subjugation (of others) to liberation (of ourselves), and so -- despite the Grand Illusion of "Progress," which has been almost entirely material -- we continue to gnaw away at each other's vitals.
Only the style -- and scope -- of our weaponry changes. Our motives remain primitive and animalistic.

" ... What do you expect from the cretin who has singlehandedly replaced diverting discussion here at WH with despicable diatribe?"
Yes, Viburnum, but look at what that says about most of "us."
If we didn't love a "good excuse" to wallow in pettiness, nastiness and stupidity, we would IGNORE stimuli of this nature and let them whither into extinction.
Instead, we FEED such things and thus STRENGTHEN and PROLONG their pernicious influence.
A thread like this is a microcosm of the whole world. The way we treat each other here reflects the same flawed thinking that keeps all of humanity trapped in misery -- as I tried to explain above.
As a species we ADORE Conflict, and constantly seek "good reasons" to continue pursuing paths that lead to Bloodshed on an ever-widening scale.
In short WE GET WHAT WE DESERVE.
~ FreeThinke
I couldn't agree more with FT's last comment in this thread.
Don't feed the troll!
Thank you, AOW. I'm glad at least one person "gets the message."
Have a lovely day! The trick is never to let the bastards get you down. ;-)
Cheerio!

FT: "...we would IGNORE stimuli of this nature and let them whither into extinction."
Ordinarily I would agree with you FT, and if Steve was merely incessantly spouting the party line like Lib-mann, overflowing with liberal sincerity like Jersey, sharp witted, snarky, and entertaining like Ducky, or willing to actually engage in intelligent debate like Shaw, he wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately he lacks the capacity to participate on that level, and he's never learned to disagree without being disagreeable. At any and every rebuttal to one of his remarks he resorts to insult and invective on a level I haven't seen in the 6 months or so I've been coming here. He's really beyond the pale, and there's no reason to let his venomous vituperation to go unchallenged.
AOW: "Don't feed the troll!"
Apparently he hasn't referred to you by the "C" word yet.
Viburnum: You make an excellent point.
From now on, I will delete his comments with a clean conscience. As you point out, many smart and witty liberals comment here, and we enjoy the back and forth.
Little Stevie contributes nothing to the conversation but poop-throwing tourettes tantrums.
Viburnum, AOW has the horrid distinction of being the first lady to have Steve call her that amazingly disgusting name. I was second.
SF...I think that's what we all have to do now. We tried, we taught, we instructed, we chastised to no avail. I'll start doing that, too.
You're lucky you at least have some thinking, honorable libs here; I don't, none of mine are QUITE as nasty as steve, but close.
@AOW
My apologies. I can't imagine having the patience to tolerate him after that.

Nothing to really say. Just want to be #147, LOLOLOLOLOO
