Devil's Playground

God Bless the USA?

When Rick Santorum preached about the Devil attacking America I was doing a face palm while my wife was standing and cheering.

"It's about time somebody told the truth!"  She was fresh off of seeing her prayers answered as Univision announced God had given Hugo Chavez another tumor, "hopefully fatal, and before the election."

See, I agree with Santorum.  I believe what the bible says, and I know "The God of this World" roams the earth, "patrolling it," looking for souls to devour.  But I also know that religious kookery doesn't get people elected in this country.  We like our presidents to be plain vanilla, no nuts.  This despite our choosing Barocky Road ice cream in 2008, a faithful product of Reverend Wright's Church of God Damn America.

As I expressed my sense of doom at the prospect of an Obama reelection, Mrs Silverfiddle, God bless her, exhorted me to pray.  Pray!  "If we all pray God will save this country just like he saved the Maccabees!"

She got visibly irritated when I told her that the Israelites at the time of Judas Maccabeus were essential to God's plan, while America most likely is not.  Why would The Lord give a damn about the USA?  We've blown it, we've mooned him and spit on his laws.  If I were God, I'd take a giant shit on the United States of America, just for pleasure.  He blessed us with so much, and we flushed it all down the toilet.  We turned this land of milk and honey into a porn palace full of ripoff artists.

Our government is out of control.  It turned simple charity into a multi-trillion dollar money-wasting operation that destroys more lives than it saves.  We never tire of travelling to other lands and killing foreigners.  At one time I expressed contempt for the realists, George Bush the Elder, George Schultz, etc.  But when Bush the Younger kicked over the hornets nest, I realized there may have been some wisdom in leaving well enough alone, or at least proceeding with caution.

We don't know what prudence means anymore, and we scoff at morality and openly mock God, even as we make gods of ourselves and bow down to our idols and golden calves. I think Reverend Wright's wish has come true. Our chickens have come home to roost. Not in the form of terrorists or some external power. We've done it to ourselves. If God still has a purpose for us, it is probably only to serve as a warning to others against arrogance, greed and purposeful stupidity.

God on our side? I doubt it...  As Abraham Lincoln remarked, we should be humbly and fervently praying that we can make it back to God's side.

Supervillain Sunday! Foster Freeze vs Abortion Man!

"It's Rick Santorum's misfortune that his main moneybags has a name that sounds like a Batman villain."

Yesterday we were treated to another of Jersey's wretched and vulgar outbursts.

Most of it is incoherent and unprintable, but I will provide a few counterpoints.

Jersey ignorantly blurted...
"In fact, until the mid-19th century, most of you Cafeteria Christian Conservatives didn't believe that. And not until the mid-20th century did it become a focal issue for the right wing Protestants among you."
Wrong-O, angry and intolerant one.  I refer you to The Didache, a first century Christian document written by men who knew Christ...
Chapter 2. The Second Commandment: Grave Sin Forbidden. And the second commandment of the Teaching; You shall not commit murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not commit pederasty, you shall not commit fornication, you shall not steal, you shall not practice magic, you shall not practice witchcraft, you shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill that which is born.  (Didache)
You can disagree with the teachings, but it's authenticity is universally accepted by historians.

Jersey continued with some more gay bathhouse profanity, then closed by defending abortion as legitimate because "abortion has been around for at least all of recorded history."  Well, so has murder and theft, so I can't imagine what his point could have been...

Selective Outrage on the Left

It's Rick Santorum's misfortune that his main campaign moneybags has a name that sounds like a Batman villain.  Foster Friess had the temerity to tell women who didn't want to get pregnant to keep their knees together and liberals everywhere collapsed into hysteric vapors.

This is the same left that...

... Gleefully mocks and dehumanizes conservative women, from Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter to Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin, to include cheering when liberal men make "jokes" about them that include their children and the prospect of them being raped

... lionized lady-killer Ted Kennedy and his fellow carouser and serial sexual-harasser Christopher Dodd.

... batted not an eye when Bill Clinton abused his power by seducing a star-struck, barely-legal intern into performing sexual favors on him in the oval office

Illiberal, Intolerant Left

And the left dares to sling charges of hypocrisy? Not living up to one’s beliefs? Has anyone checked out the “tolerant,” “diverse,” and pro-choice” left’s illiberal, intolerant gang rape of the Komen foundation for making the choice to not hand free money to abortionists at Planned Parenthood ? It was the very antipathy of true classical liberalism.

Yeah, they're pro-choice, so long as they are the ones choosing what the rest of us will pay for:
In a society that thinks itself free, how dare the government force employers to provide health insurance? How dare it mandate that coverage include contraception—or any particular service? How dare it mandate that any coverage be free? (It can’t really be free; the coverage necessarily reduces employees’ cash wages.) How can contraception use be insurable when it is a chosen act, not the kind of low-probability, high-cost event that insurance was designed to protect against? (Obama’s Big Government Mandates)
So yeah, get your freak on, but do it on your own damned dime.

The Smudge

A hateful little gay leftist named Damned Smudge pulled quite a coup a few years back, essentially linking Rick Santorum with gay sex in Google searches.
Here’s Smudge’s definition of “santorum”: “The frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex.” (Mark Judge - The Deceit of Damned Smudge)
This is illustrative of much of the left. Vile hatred and not much else. The joke's not even funny, no word play or clever turn of a phrase or playing off of some trait.  The name Santorum conjurs up perhaps a Latin dictate from a Pope, not the disgusting after-effects of a butt-plumber break-in.

How sick is it to smear another by imputing to them your own sickeningly foul practices?

Smudge has harmed his own cause, and that of his fellow tromboning tea-baggers.  By employing such sordid gay sex imagery, he reminds live-and-let-live people of goodwill who normally do not ponder these things why they find such practices so repellent.  "Maybe queers are deviant after all..."

It's a revealing peek into the mind of a flamboyant self-loather. A gay man who attacks a straight man by linking him to the messy byproduct of a common gay sex practice. Progressives, the supposed champions of human rights, oppose right to work laws, revel in the Caligula circus that is abortion, and gleefully "out" closeted gay people.

The backdoor burglar who pulled the Santorum prank is a smudge left on a bus station bathroom stall after a little tea room sex, probably with a closeted Republican. Worse, his vindictive unfunny smear harms his cause.  Mark Judge probably speaks for quite a few people:
It took me a few years, a job with a lot of gay people, and an essay by Gore Vidal to disabuse myself of the notion I learned as a kid that gay people, especially gay men, are people who think constantly about sex, often filthy unhealthy forms of sex, and that they have no impulse control. I learned that gay people are just like everyone else.
Yet the visibility, indeed the celebration, of Damned Smudge in the media and the culture -- not to mention his demented and dehumanizing sex column -- has brought back that old stereotype. (Mark Judge - RCR)
What do you think?
