TEXIT?
Amidst the Brexit, renewed calls for Texas Independence
The Texas Nationalist Movement is renewing calls for a ballot referendum calling for secession from the United States. Texas which was an independent nation from 1836-1845 would have the 10th largest economy in the world if an independent state.

Garland Texas
Inoffensive expression doesn't require protection
Above all else, the First Amendment means that government has no power to restrict expression because of its message, its ideas, its subject matter, or its content. To permit the continued building of our politics and culture, and to assure self-fulfillment for each individual, our people are guaranteed the right to express any thought, free from government censorship.~Thurgood Marshall
Chances are no matter who you are, what you do, or what you like, someone somewhere will find it offensive. The event in Garland Texas was certainly offensive to Muslims, just as I'm sure they found Madonna's "Satanic" performance at the Grammy Awards and Katy Perry's "Witchcraft" performance the previous year offensive. Christians find "Piss Christ" offensive. I'm sure there are Protestants out there that find the papist trappings of the Catholic Church offensive.
So?
The parody and satire of the "silly" beliefs of Muslims is no more or no less offensive than the parody and satire of the "silly" beliefs of Christians, or the parody and satire of the religious by the non-religious. There are those who believe and who had called for the event in Garland to be banned just as there are those who believe and who called for the Satanic Mass at Harvard to be banned, and those that believe and have called for Islam to be banned... all are wrong.
Do you think I'm wrong? Are my words offensive? Do they upset you?
Tough, suck it up.
Post Script:
The bottom image is "Muhammad prohibiting Nasīʾ", a 17th century Ottoman copy of a 14th century Ilkhanate manuscript. 450,000 people signed a petition to remove it from the Wikipedia article on Muhammed as offensive to Muslims.

By the rocket's red glare

Since the beginning of the month roughly 1,700 missiles have been launched at Israel. In June it was 53, in May it was 4, April - 19, March - 65, February - 9, January - 22. In 2012 a total of 2,257 rockets were launched against Israel.
In 1845 Congress admitted the former Mexican territory of Texas to the United States. In 1947 the United Nations created the nation of Israel.
Imagine if you would that this July 1,700 missiles launched out of Ciudad Juárez fell upon El Paso Texas, launched by Mexican nationals demanding the return of Mexican territory.
All I can say is that 90% of the whining liberal jackasses currently wearing Keffiyehs and waiving Palestinian flags would be cheering the M1 Abrams as they rolled across the border leveling everything in sight.
So tell me, what difference does 102 years make?

Democrat Mudball Fight
The Democrat party’s favorite tactic is demagoguery. The Clintons raised it to a high art. A raw form of it is mudslinging. Obama has messed things up so badly that he cannot stand on his record, so all he has left is the “they’re even worse than I am” ploy. Throwing mudballs takes that shine right off your enemies (yes, Obama has called us enemies, not opponents).
His $859 billion economic stimulus program was a miserable failure, solid majorities of the public now demand repeal of Obamacare, unemployment remains above 9 percent, his Gallup approval rating is in the tank at 39 percent, and many economists say there's a one-in-three chance of a double-dip recession. In other words, Obama can't run on his own record, so he believes he has to run down everybody else's record to have a chance at a second term. (Washington Examiner)Which would you rather have? A Rick Perry Texas McJob, or an Obamanomics No Job? Crappy job beats no job every time in my book. BTW, go here for a fact-based analysis of the Texas job machine that blows the libtard propaganda out of the water.
We had more leftwing propaganda spillage here yesterday, so here are a few more links that shine the light of truth and expose the liberal lies. A favorite trick to to pick a little downturn in an overall upward trending line and say , "SEE! They Lost Jobs There!" It's entertaining to watch the gyrations lefties go through to "prove" their point. Fact is, blue states are bleeding out people, and most are choosing to move to Texas, where the jobs are. The people have voted, with their feet.
Paul Krugman is Troll, and He's Wrong
Don't Mess with the Texas Economy
On a related note, Chuck DeVore has written a tight defense of Perry’s Trans-Texas Corridor project
I bring this up not so much to defend Governor Perry, but because DeVore raised some interesting privatization issues as well as shedding light on how changes outside of the US will shift a lot of port traffic from California to Texas.
