Congress Fiddles while Zika Burns

282 cases of Zika in Florida, 2,500 in Puerto Rico.

Funding is stalled as House Republicans in a conference committee inserted provisions unrelated to Zika such as limits on Obamacare, restrictions on abortions, funding cuts for birth control, and the lifting of environmental restrictions.

There have been 599 cases of Zika among pregnant women in the United States and its territories and seven infants have been born with Zika-related birth defects.

This is why I am no longer a Republican.  Grow the eff up and govern will you? I don't know which bloodsuckers are worse, the mosquitoes or the politicians.

Maybe this is the flag that should come down...

State flags bearing confederate imagery including the flag of the State of Mississippi will no longer hang in the tunnel at the US Capitol.  Rep. Candice Miller, R-Mich Chairwoman of the House Administration Committee said:

“I am well aware of how many Americans negatively view the Confederate flag, and, personally, I am very sympathetic to these views."

Well, given that Congress has an 14% approval rating perhaps you took the wrong flag down!

In a previous Gallup poll (July 8, 2015) 54% of Americans view the confederate battle standard as a symbol of southern pride. Now that's down from 59% in 2000 and 69% in 1992. Democrats however have shifted from 61% in 1992 to only 32% holding that view today. Still the approval rate of Democrats for confederate emblems still exceed the approval rating of the US Congress.

Perhaps Congress should address its own approval rating before taking on the burden of the states and the flags that they choose to fly. Before all you liberals (and some conservatives) go off your rockers I am not advocating disbanding the union or eliminating the stars and stripes... I am simply pointing out how foolish congress-critters actually are. More people approve of the stars and bars than approve of congress (14%), the president (48%), the economy (46%), foreign policy (37%), the direction the country is heading (26%), and the health care law (37%).  Perhaps you should pull your head out of your... before you take down the Mississippi flag.

Cromnibus

They say Cromnibus is a portmanteau of Continuing Resolution and Omnibus... I say nay, Cromnibus is in reality a portmanteau of Crony and Omnibus.  Nobody likes this bill, well no one except Obama and Oboehner, and those republicans and democrats they've strong-armed into voting for it with pork, pork, and more pork.  

This bill is bad legislation, pork-barrel legislation, bankster legislation.  How can Oboehner get this bill passed? By gathering up enough republicans and democrats without conscience or principle to vote for it. When Redstate is in agreement with Nancy Pelosi you know something is horribly, horribly wrong.

The Kline-Miller amendment is bad law, the Dodd-Frank rollback is bad law, I'm even not all that keen on the campaign finance changes.

NO, NO ,NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! 

Jim Moran (D., Va.) said that Democrats got “virtually everything” they wanted in the cromnibus package, as he praised the bill in terms that could double as the conservative critique of the legislation. “In 20 years of being on the appropriations [committee], I haven’t seen a better compromise in terms of Democratic priorities. Implementing the Affordable Care Act, there’s a lot more money for early childhood development — the only priority that got cut was the EPA but we gave them more money than the administration asked for,” Moran told reporters. National Review

 So, who was it that just swept through the 2014 elections?

In the end the House passed this abomination 219-206, liberals lost tonight and conservatives lost tonight, the only people who won are the Washington insiders.

Here's a message for Republicans and Republican leadership, if John Oboehner wins the floor vote in January 2015 and is Speaker of the House on November 8th, 2016... I'll vote for Hillary Clinton out of spite, whether she's running or not.  Screw you!!! There is no conservative party left in the United States. Done, over, finished, or as I said before, SCREW YOU!!!

Well, the practitioner of The Religion of Peace who roasted his chestnuts on a Christmas day flight bound for the US was sentenced to life in prison yesterday.

Our corrupt congress, having again been caught with it's grimy mitts in the cookie jar, is now taking the brave, heroic step of attempting to pass a sham law to make it appear that elected officials will no longer profit from insider trading...

Do you feel the bonds that connect you to the imperial DC grandees?  Do you really believe they share with you a "communion of interest, and sympathy of sentiments?"

How do you like your bank fees?  Hidden or clearly stated?

Congress passed a law to “protect consumers” by banning credit card companies and banks from charging merchants a fee for each transaction.

Banks complied, and merchants pocketed the difference, saving the consumer nothing.

Next, Bank of America did the honest thing and announced a flat $5 per month fee for cardholders to make up for the revenue congress took from them.

Result: Consumer is $5 per month poorer and store owners are marginally richer. Thank you Dick Durban and Congress!

Now comes Chase, Citigroup and others saying they will not charge cardholders a fee, giving consumers a clear choice. Unlike government action, the free marketplace gives consumers more choices, as merchants compete for our dollars.

Thanks to the free market, a customer can now choose to do business with a bank that explicitly charges her the fee, or she can go with the bank that hides if from her.
