The woman in the photograph above is a great aunt of mine, she died at the age of 28.  The photo above was taken at the Women's Infirmary at the Whitehaven Tuberculosis Sanitarium in White Haven, PA (south of Scranton).

For the first time in 23 years the infection rate for TB has risen nationwide.  Why are we losing ground?  Well according to the Minnesota Health Department 22% of refugees resettled into the state by the federal government test positive for latent TB.

Now the Minnesota Health Department has one of the highest treatment completion rate in the country at 86%, looked at from the other angle that means 14% of the refugees don't complete treatment.   Now you can't catch TB from someone with latent TB... but you can catch TB from someone with active TB and 10% of those with LTBI go on to develop into active cases.  

The majority of the LTBI cases come from African and in particular West African immigrants.  The population of those immigrants is 1.8 million, up 810,000 since 2000.  Using Minnesota as a bench mark since it claims one of the best programs in the country that leaves a potential 55,000 latent TB positive immigrants in the country, of which a potential 5,500 will go on to develop active TB.

Makes you think twice about the guy coughing on a bus or airplane next to you, don't it?

The question is why don't we confine these people until treatment is complete, although even then there is no guarantee that you won't develop TB it does seem to be wiser than letting fourteen percent of them slip off into the general population. Is it their rights? What about the rights of Americans to be free from next generation of Typhoid Marys running around?

15,000 gather in Dresden the other day, last week it was 10,000, the week before 6,000, early on it was a few hundred.  PEGIDA or Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the Occident (Patriotische Europäer gegen die Islamisierung des Abendlandes) is just one of the signs of of pushback from Europeans fed up with their government's liberal immigration policies.  From the NPD and AfD in Germany, to UKIP in the United Kingdom, to the National Front in France, the far-right is rising in Europe.

In Germany, rather than address their citizens concerns, the government dismisses them out of hand as neo-nazis, pin-striped Nazis, dangerous, unmistakably right-wing extremists, and a disgrace.  It is the government's attitude that is dangerous and a disgrace placing concern for foreign asylum seekers ahead of concern for their own citizens.  It is this indifference that enables the far-right and is the best recruitment tool that they could hope for. 

The 2013 revision of the UN Trends in International Migrant Stock lists Germany as having 11.9% of the population as immigrants, France 10.8%, the UK as 8.9%, the US as 12.8%.  When 1 in 10 people are immigrants is it any wonder that the natives are restless?

Earlier this year the Oregon Senate passed Bill 833, a measure to give driver's licenses to illegal aliens.  Opponents gathered enough signatures to put the measure on the ballot and they had a vote.

Do a Google News search on Oregon Ballot Measure 88 and you'll find little reporting outside of Oregon itself.  Would you not think that with all of the talk of executive action to effectively grant amnesty to some six million persons residing illegally in the United States that the national media might pick up on the results of this referendum?

But Oregon's a liberal state you might say, the results wouldn't reflect national opinion... you might think that, but in liberal Oregon, the measure to give illegals driver's licenses was defeated by...

In fact the measure was defeated in every county in Oregon except for Multnomah, which is part of the Portland metropolitan area.  And you wonder why conservatives think that the mainstream media is biased against them.

Actually Mr. President you're right, America is a continent, the United States however is represented by the congress of the people assembled.  For a constitutional law scholar, you are either a complete and utter idiot... or you just don't care, and the underlying message in your speech is repugnant to the principles of a democratic republic.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement policy prohibits arrests at religious buildings.  Well that's stupid.

A network of two dozen churches has promised to offer “physical sanctuary” to illegal immigrants facing deportation, saying they want to create a safe haven that federal officials won’t invade as a way of preventing the migrants from being kicked out of the country. WT

Any church aiding and abetting the violation of US law ought to have their tax exempt status immediately revoked. Whether you're Christian, Muslim, or Rastafarian... your religious beliefs don't trump US Law.  The concept of the church as a place of legal or political sanctuary went out in the 17th century.

That's a lie fostered by the administration and lately regurgitated around here in defense of the administration in light of the current illegal immigration invasion.  Fact is, what Obama says is true only in the most twisted and obscene sense of true.  The administration has in fact a higher number of "Removals" than past administrations, as you can plainly see from the red in the chart above.  The claim that Obama deports more is simply smoke and mirrors, redefining deportations to mean only removals in the hope that you don't notice that the number of returns is dropping and that the total number of illegal immigrants removed is going way way down. They hope you don't notice that...

Total deportations in 2011, the latest year for which complete numbers are available, numbered 715,495 – the lowest level since 1973. The highest number of deportations on record was in 2000, under the Clinton administration, when 1,864,343 aliens were deported.

Removals

There are two types of removals, and Expedited Removal and an Order of Removal.  An Expedited Removal occurs at a port of entry or within 90 miles of the border. An Expedited Removal cannot be appealed, does not occur before a judge, and bars an individual from reentry into the United States for a period of five years.  An Order of Removal is issued by a judge and bars an individual from reentry for a period of ten years.

Returns

In a return, an individual is fingerprinted (usually), and turned around and kicked back across the border. It used to be the most common form of deportation.  

So, rather than reducing the numbers of illegal immigrants the administration is really allowing their numbers to increase, by not turning them around at the border and giving them a (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) "order" to appear, they are allowing them to simply wander off and disappear amidst the population never to be seen again.

Officials with the Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino told NBC4 Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials reached out to them in an effort to address the border crisis stemming from a wave of undocumented immigrants from Central America who have recently crossed into the United States at the Texas-Mexico border.

A statement from the City of Fontana read:

The temporary placement of Central American Immigrants at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Fontana is a humanitarian effort on the part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino in cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).  While the City of Fontana is understanding of the issues and concerns of residents on both sides of this issue, the City has no direct control over the policies of ICE or the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino.

In her blog, Sister Mary Ann Walsh, director of media relations for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said that images of the Murrieta protesters recalled the “fire hoses and snarling police dogs in Birmingham, Alabama, used against African-American students protesting racial segregation.” The images also reminded her of a picture of a “little girl in North Vietnam running terrified and naked with burning skin after South Vietnamese planes accidently dropped napalm on Trang Bang” in 1972

People are pissed off about illegal immigration, and backlash is growing over the H-1B program, which legalizes the importation of cheap labor that displaces American technology workers.

There is no shortage of labor in this country, skilled, unskilled or high tech. It's a lie perpetrated by greedy businesses like Harley Davidson and all of Silicon Valley who don't want to pay the market wage for labor.

Congress and successive US presidents perpetuate this global version of union busting by importing scabs from other countries to break the backs of those uppity Americans who demand too much money for their labor.

Why do politicians continually vote for more H-1B visas?
Because uber-rich Plutocrats Without Borders like Mark Suckerturd and the Aspen Institute globalists pay bribes--er... campaign contributions--to keep this job-stealing program alive, even as tens of millions of American citizens cannot find work.

Why do politicians do nothing about illegal immigration? 
Because both the red and the blue team profit from the crisis that keeps the base stirred up and sending in the campaign cash.

Human Shields

So Obama puts poor children and women out in front of this cynical and sinister government-sponsored human rights calamity. Government and business collude in their dark lairs, at conferences in Aspen and Davos, conspiring against the American people, and they use poor immigrants as their human shields.

Who can bother to present facts and argue the merits of immigration programs? Look at that poor mother with five kids who is crying because we're sending her back to a two-room shack in El Salvador!  Click the link a tell me how anyone could gaze upon that poor woman's tear-stained face and not feel compassion?  The agenda-driven progressives are as brilliant as they are sinister.

Obama, the Democraps and the US Chamber Pot of Communists are using poor people from the third world as human shields, protecting their nefarious activities from the slings and arrows of people who would dare question their motives.

America used to be a melting pot, where cultures from all over blended together to produce a vibrant, successful nation. Today, not so much.

America is now a smelting pot, where incompatible cultures separate under extreme heat, producing sulfurous odors, societal corrosives, slag and other useless byproducts.

David Paulin at American Thinker concludes that America no longer remakes its immigrants, the immigrants now remake America.

citizens of Murrieta, California sent the government the other day when blocking Homeland Security buses attempting to carry 140 illegal immigrants to their town for "processing".  "Processing" is apparently another word for release.

You Don't Have a Right to Not be Offended

An obscurantist Muslim immigrant we graciously allowed through the gates of civilization attacked a Pennsylvania man who was dressed like a zombie Muhammad on Halloween. An idiot judge, citing Sharia law and extraordinary Muslim sensitivities, let the assailant off.

So does that mean I can punch Larry Flynt out of his wheelchair for his anti-Catholic comments and cite Canon Law as my defense?  No, it doesn't.  But what it does do is set the legal precedent that Islam is in a special protected class because it's practitioners are too violent to control themselves.  America takes another step closer to the turd world.

The assailant, Talag Elbayomy, a Muslim immigrant, physically attacked Perce, attempted to pull his sign off, and, according to police, admitted what he had done right after the incident. The defense argued that Elbayomy believed it was a crime to insult the prophet Mohammed (it is, under sharia law), and that because he was in the company of his children, he had to act to end this provocation and set an example about defending Islam.

Judge Martin did not lecture the defendant about free speech or how disputes are resolved in a civilized country. He instead dressed the victim down for failing to appreciate how sensitive Muslims  [...] are about Islam. (Sharia Court of Pennsylvania)

I blame the State Department

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that our government should not be letting in people who think it is OK to attack others who offend their beliefs. I shudder to think what would have happened had this creep been walking down South Beach with his family and spied two men holding hands and kissing.  And how in the hell can we be letting people in and not explaining our laws to them?  All hopeful immigrants must be briefed that not only is blasphemy not against the law, it is one of the chief ways many of us exercise our first amendment rights.

Letting such people come here is like letting wild beasts into your home.  It is doubly dangerous when we have judges who more resemble ayatollahs, trampling the constitution while lecturing victims on how to avoid further attacks by not offending Islam.  The people of Pennsylvania should impeach that judge for trampling the constitution he has sworn to uphold.

There Ain't No Bridge Big Enough...

In an article about the flaming outrage in Afghanistan, I stumbled upon some words that say it much better than I ever could.  Upon concluding that we should quit Afghanistan sooner rather than later, Andrew McCarthy further observes...

That, however, cannot be the end of it. If, according to the president, we need to apologize to Muslims because we must accept that they have such an innate, extraordinary ardor for their religion that barbaric reactions to trivial slights are inevitable, then they should not be invited to enter a civilized country.

At the very least, our immigration laws should exclude entry from Muslim-majority countries unless and until those countries expressly repeal repressive sharia laws (e.g., the death penalty for apostates) and adopt American standards of non-discrimination against, tolerance of, and protection for religious minorities.

If you really want to promote freedom in Islamic countries, an immigration policy based on civil-rights reciprocity would be a lot more effective, and a lot less expensive, than dispatching tens of thousands of troops to build sharia “democracies.” It would also protect Americans from people whose countries and cultures have not prepared them for the obligations of citizenship in a free society. Indeed.  Imagine (God forbid) if all of us were as violently hypersensitive about our beliefs as that immigrant.  The country would be in constant turmoil.  If we value our freedoms, our culture and our way of life, we can't be letting in those who do not.

Raping America

Strauss Kahn is still a pig, by all accounts, but we knew that already.  International organizations are rife with oligarchic ass-pinchers, pedophiles, rapists, shakedown artists and thieves.

Regardless, what happened in that Sofitel hotel room between him and the maid has been called into question.  Kahn's defense team admits they had sex, but they insist it was consensual (how would you like to face your wife with that defense?  "Honest honey, I'm not a rapist!  It was consensual!")

Europeans smelled a setup from the start, and it looks like they were right.  First the phone call from the alleged victim to her criminal boyfriend, in immigration lockup, where she told him, "Don’t worry, this guy has a lot of money. I know what I’m doing,"

Prosecutors then discovered...

...she had lied about her immigration, about being gang raped in Guinea, about her experiences in her homeland and about her finances, according to two law enforcement officials. She had been linked to people suspected of crimes. She changed her account of what she did immediately after the encounter with Mr. Strauss-Kahn.

She lied to gain asylum in this country:

The housekeeper also told investigators that she had been gang raped in Guinea.

She described soldiers destroying the home where she lived with her husband, and said they were both beaten because of their opposition to the regime. She said her husband died in jail.

But then, in a subsequent interview with Manhattan prosecutors, she said the story was false, one she had been urged to tell by a man.

She lied about her financial status to scam benefits from the government:

In recent weeks, investigators collected bank records showing deposits of thousands of dollars in Arizona, Georgia, New York and Pennsylvania to an account in her name.
The woman had repeatedly said that the Sofitel was her only source of income.

The district attorney’s office said the woman had lied about her income to maintain her public housing, and had claimed a friend’s child as her own dependent to increase her tax refund.

So regardless of whether she attempted to shakedown DSK, she has definitely scammed the United States of America and We the People.  We should deport her back to Guinea.

Uncle Stupid's Gonna Take Care of You...

Reading through this chain of fraud and lies, I see a common thread:  Stupid immigration policies that let in cigarette bandits, dope peddlers, welfare cheats and devout Muslim prostitutes.  We let people in because they know how to concoct a good heartsob story, and we're a soft touch.  Too many "victims" then use their privileged status in The Land of The Free and Home of the Brave to conduct criminal activities.

This is why immigration, and even asylum, should be conditional, for five to ten years.  Anything more than a traffic ticket and you're out.  This woman should be stripped of any status we granted her and deported back to Guinea.

Angry Islam Incompatible with European Liberalism

Europeans are increasingly unwilling to tolerate Muslim intolerance

The liberal media in this country are wringing their hands over increasing European intolerance. They worry that anti-Muslim sentiment is on the rise even in Sweden...

"...home of the Nobel Prize and known as the "conscience of the world" for aiding refugees and pioneering laws for women's equality and gay rights. Yet even here, the Swedish Democrats made it into the Rikstag by tapping into a surge of anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim sentiment sweeping across many nations in Western Europe, propelling right-wing and nationalist parties to their biggest gains in years." Are our ink-stained scribblers and enlightened cognoscenti really too dumb to realize that Islam is the greatest threat to Europe's famed and admirable liberalism? Muslims are not known for championing women's equality and gay rights.

A Swede put it simply:

"The Swedish are tired of walking around in their own neighborhoods and feeling like they're in Saudi Arabia," said Ekeroth, an intense 30-year-old and founder of the new Anti-Islamic Fund, which promotes criticism of radical Islam. "It is time for the Swedish to be comfortable again in their own country."

Angry Muslim replaces Ugly American as #1 Threat to Europe

There is disorder in the European house. Europeans were living comfortably and peaceably in the home they had built, settling upon a live-and-let-live liberalism that has kept the peace for 65 years.  Ugly Americans demanding everybody speak English used to be the main disturber of Europe's peaceful repose.

Now, denizens of the Olde Continent are shocked and horrified to see that many Muslims they generously invited in have become a pack of wild animals let loose in the house. The beasts have found high perches upon couch backs and china cabinets and bare their fangs at the customs of their hosts.  
 
Because of these newcomers, Europeans must change their behavior?

How is that right? A people have a right to their culture, and nobody has the right to forcibly change it from the outside. This is especially so when the culture is beneficial to mankind, not a threat to others, and has been decided upon by the people. Europe's culture meets all three criteria.

"It isn't racist to want to preserve your culture," said Leif Johansson, a 64-year-old carpenter. "I'm open to immigration, but these people come without a thought to integration, no interest in learning Swedish or being part of Swedish society."

Precisely. No nation should be compelled to commit national suicide. But what else could the agenda be of a people who move in and angrily demand conformance to their strange and violent politico-religious freak show?

Europe may finally be fed up. I pray they are, and I pray we learn a lesson here before it's too late.

Camp of the Saints: Europe's Nighmare Becoming Reality

Europe, already besotted with immigrants, is straining under the latest siege: 

The present crisis started when refugees began fleeing Tunisia by boat in the wake of January’s revolution. Italy was a natural destination: its island of Lampedusa lies south of Tunis and just 70 miles off the African coast. These refugees were joined by others from Libya, and by late May almost 40,000 had arrived. (NY Times - Immigration in the EU)

EU nations are talking of reestablishing border controls because they don't know what to do about their immigrant problem.  I guess, "stop letting them in," is too unsophisticated for the European mind.

The issue has been simmering for years, but unrest in the Middle East and North Africa and fears of a new wave of migrants have brought it to a boil. Of course, closing off Europe to newcomers violates the cosmopolitan vision on which the European Union was built... (NY Times - Immigration in the EU)

The problem is that the immigrants storming Europe's borders are not cosmopolitan.  

A liberal democracy will not survive being swamped by people bringing ancient hatreds and intolerant ideologies with them.  Especially when these immigrants are well-versed in agitprop jujitsu, using a state's liberties against itself to stifle free speech and criticism and to enshrine special status for themselves and their abhorrent cultural practices.

All of this is eerily reminiscent of a gripping novel French author Jean Raspail wrote back in the early 1970's.  Entitled Camp of the Saints, it remains controversial to this day.  He describes a sagging third-world flotilla bringing millions of benighted poor to the shores of Europe, and the liberal powers that talked a good game about the brotherhood of man don't know what to do.  They cannot appear as hypocrites, so they dither and talk, acquiescing by inaction to the invasion.

Raspail has been branded a hateful racist by the Southern Poverty Law Center, and was unsuccessfully sued in Europe for writing an anti-immigrant article in Le Figaro.  It is unfortunate that the multiculturalists have succeeded in equating defending your culture with racism.  Like most progressive ideas, the very notion of multiculturalism goes against human nature.  For better or worse, we are tribal: 

That scorn of a people for other races, the knowledge that one’s own is best, the triumphant joy at feeling oneself to be part of humanity’s finest—none of that had ever filled these youngsters’ addled brains, or at least so little that the monstrous cancer implanted in the Western conscience had quashed it in no time at all.  (Raspail - Camp of the Saints)

Loving your culture and wanting to preserve it against newcomers who would turn it all upside down is not hateful

Especially the way Raspail expresses it.  Yes, he employs dark-skinned people as the protagonists, but his pointed and sustained scorn is aimed at squishy western elites, not immigrants.  Indeed, he understands why they are sailing to Europe and he is sympathetic.

The novel is dark.  While employing unflattering terms for the immigrants and the elites who pretend to care for them, the author displays a marked Christian sympathy for the poor of the world.  It is a complex novel, but his simple message seems to be that we can and should help them, but not by inviting them all here.

Man never has really loved humanity all of a piece—all its races, its peoples, its religions—but only those creatures he feels are his kin, a part of his clan, no matter how vast. Western Christendom is falling apart.  We are ashamed of our culture and our elites caution us to tone down the flag waving and displays of cultural pride.  Meanwhile, those who immigrate but refuse to assimilate despise us for our weakness.

Rotten turd infesting Britain--We don't need that here

The United States government is letting in people we don't trust.  The result is we are all now being treated like criminals, guilty until proven innocent.

The United States of America is becoming one big prison camp

The federal government's legitimate efforts to keep the nation safe has morphed into a liberty-crushing steamroller.

Tidbits such as this leads the TSA to plot grope and fondle operations at train depots, bus stations, and malls across this formerly-free country:

He was well aware of U.S. counterterrorist defenses and schooled his followers how to work around them, the messages to his followers show. Don't limit attacks to New York City, he said in his writings. Consider other areas such as Los Angeles or smaller cities. Spread out the targets. (My Way – Osama Eyed Smaller Cities)

This has led to such stupidities as Senator Schmucky Schumer’s suggestion that Amtrack use a “No Ride” list similar to the No Fly list.

First of all, anyone who makes this No Ride list should not even be in the country, and that goes to the heart of the problem.  If someone is deemed a danger to America's people and our infrastructure, he doesn't belong here and we must expel him immediately.  Do not pass immigration court, do not collect 200 dollars. 

Instead we get government propagandizing us via cell phone messages and fleets of X-ray trucks prowling neighborhoods to see inside our homes.  Where will it all end?

We are no longer a free people

The right answer is to cut off immigration from lands known to produce America-hating terrorists.  This would block a lot of good people, but it would also stop “lone wolf” plots, like the one just busted up in New York.  We open our doors to people from third world toilets, and they thank us by bringing violent 7th century religious chauvinism to the country that welcomed them.

Here’s the lowdown on the two Jew haters we made American citizens…

Ferhani, a 26-year-old unemployed resident of Queens, is a native of Algeria who traveled to the United States in 1995, claiming asylum.

Mamdouh, 20, also a Queens resident, worked for a local delivery service and came to the United States in 1999 with his family from Casablanca, Morocco.

Both, however, were "committed to violent jihad," telling police that they wanted to kill Jewish people and also hoped to attack New York's Empire State Building, Vance said. (CNN)

In addition to being more circumspect about who we let in, we also need a much longer period of residency before granting citizenship.  Any misbehavior gets the whole family deported.  We don’t want troublemakers plunking down and going “Ahhh…  Made it!  Now let's stir up some trouble.”  We want them on their best behavior and working feverishly to obey our laws and become good Americans lest we bounce them for being a danger to our society.  Once we grant someone citizenship, it's all over.

Reagan’s Legacy

Robert Samuelson  explains Reagan’s true concrete accomplishment:  Snuffing inflation.  Yes, Fed Chairman Paul Volker did the heavy lifting, but President Reagan kept a steady hand at the wheel and resisted politically-smart but economically-stupid advice to lower interest rates sent through the roof by Jimmy Carter's disastrous policies.

The lesson liberals draw (and urge Obama to imitate) is that Reagan's political success reflected his optimistic presidential stagecraft. It wasn't policy, it was presentation. Wrong.

Reagan earned his success the hard way - by backing policies that, though initially unpopular, served the nation's long-term interests. That's called leadership, a quality Obama has yet to demonstrate. (Samuelson)

Who’s Afraid of E-Verify?
The US Chamber of Commerce.  Wouldn't want to hurt the bottom line by hiring Americans and paying them a decent wage, would we? 

Only in America could we be talking about "jobs Americans just won't do" while we have 10% unemployment.
