POX Americana

Pax Americana: A term applied to the concept of relative peace in the Western Hemisphere and later the world as a result of the preponderance of power enjoyed by the United States beginning around the middle of the 20th century. (Wikipedia)

Europe and much of the free world benefited from PAX Americana...

But now, we all suffer under POX Americana, a new era of toxic malfeasance ushered in by President Bush and brought to a full and pungent florescence by Obama's JV Team, led by John F. Kerry.

We can also thank the international firebugs and merry mischief-makers in Obama's Amateur Warlord Club, led by Hillary Rodham Clinton, Susan Rice and Samantha Power, dunces all.

God rest your soul, Ambassador Stevens.  Was it simply Hillary's incompetence, or her callous disregard for your security requests, or something more sinister?  At this point, "What difference does it make?"

We don't need a recap of the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfelt Triumvirate's crimes...

Obama has already enumerated them, laid the blame, and apologized.  Then he quickly set about beating Bush's record for murder by drone, including ordering the assassination of an American overseas.

Other Obama Administration "Accomplishments"...

* The Obama administration was for the Muslim Brotherhood tipping over Egypt before it was against it.

* Destroyed Libya and turned it into another terrorist haven ala Somalia.

* Turned a blind eye to the Persian Spring, which the mullahs quickly snuffed

* Drew "Red Lines" in dry erase marker.

* Abandoned Iraq (yeah, yeah, yeah, Bush left the SOFA treaty undone, but Obama was happy to run away as fast as he could).

* After abandoning Iraq, Obama quietly sneaked US troops back in there (without a SOFA), so we're now teamed with Iran

* Destabilized Syria, and equipped, trained and armed the "good" terrorists who then took all those American-supplied goodies to ISIS.

* Dithered and blathered while ISIS metastasized

* Obama's "success story," Yemen, is in revolutionary flames as a result of his fumbling fudpuckery there...

* Failed to anticipate and care for the millions of refugees his bungling bastardry caused...

Europe suffers under its worst refugee crisis ever as a direct result of US foreign policy failure, and specifically that of the Obama Administration, including Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Europe doesn't need any more US "leadership" like this, and neither do We The American People.

15,000 gather in Dresden the other day, last week it was 10,000, the week before 6,000, early on it was a few hundred.  PEGIDA or Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the Occident (Patriotische Europäer gegen die Islamisierung des Abendlandes) is just one of the signs of of pushback from Europeans fed up with their government's liberal immigration policies.  From the NPD and AfD in Germany, to UKIP in the United Kingdom, to the National Front in France, the far-right is rising in Europe.

In Germany, rather than address their citizens concerns, the government dismisses them out of hand as neo-nazis, pin-striped Nazis, dangerous, unmistakably right-wing extremists, and a disgrace.  It is the government's attitude that is dangerous and a disgrace placing concern for foreign asylum seekers ahead of concern for their own citizens.  It is this indifference that enables the far-right and is the best recruitment tool that they could hope for. 

The 2013 revision of the UN Trends in International Migrant Stock lists Germany as having 11.9% of the population as immigrants, France 10.8%, the UK as 8.9%, the US as 12.8%.  When 1 in 10 people are immigrants is it any wonder that the natives are restless?  

Australia vs. Germany

I'm still stuck in the Thomas Sowell "Compared to What?" mode, so I thought I'd do a quick economic comparison between the US, Germany and Australia.
 
We've been arguing a lot over economics here at Western Hero and around Right Blogistan.  I want to present a few basic economic facts to help us keep it in perspective.  All information is from The Heritage Foundation 2011 Index of Economic Freedom.

It is useful to state statistics as a percentage of GDP, since GDP is the generally accepted (although imperfect) expression of a nation's total economic output.   It's the whole pie.

A Tale of Three Countries

Here are a few facts about America, Germany and Australia.  I include Australia because it ranks #3 on The Heritage Foundation's index and it is a model of small government.  I list Germany because liberals, with reason, like to cite that country as a successful example of enlightened progressive governance. 

United States of America
GDP:  $14.2 Trillion
Total Revenue:  26.9% of GDP
Total Government Expenditures:  38.9%

Germany
GDP:  $2.8 Trillion
Total Revenue:  40.6% of GDP
Total Government Expenditures:  43.7%

Australia
GDP:  $851.2 Billion
Total Revenue:  30.8% of GDP
Total Government Expenditures:  34.3%

One thing that immediately stands out is that all three countries spend more than they take in. Must be an international contagion.

Liberals want us to be more like Germany

I at least credit them with ignoring Communist North Korea and Castro's Socialist island paradise to pick a pretty good model.  In order to emulate Germany, we'd have to tax everything, making the price of everything go up.  Imagine a 19% sales tax.  Denmark, Sweden and Norway have a VAT of 25%!  We'd also have to strip states of their remaining rights, since the federal government only collects 18% of GDP, with the other 10% collected unevenly and unfairly among the states.  Get that done and you still have to figure out how to squeeze another 15 cents of every dollar out of the taxpayer.

Note the small difference in expenditure/GDP between Germany and the US.  We're almost on par, yet our social services stink in comparison to Germany's.  I think this points to horrible inefficiencies in how our government operates.  This also explains why Obama and his liberal fellow travelers are demanding draconian tax hikes to feed the voracious beast.

Conservatives should point to Australia

Australia is the gold standard of how a country should operate. It is ranked #3 in the world in The Heritage Foundation index.  Only Singapore and Hong Kong are higher (but who wants to live where you can get sick breathing the air or get your ass caned for chewing gum in public?).

Australia has a relatively small and efficient government, low corruption, and light but effectively enforced regulations on the economy and banking. It is an excellent business climate, and that translates into Joe Biden's favorite three-letter word:  J-O-B-S.

I would glady pay taxes for a government like Australia's that provides a great return on taxpayer money and doesn't stifle freedom in the process.
