Connecticut forces 17 year old with Stage 3/4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma to undergo chemotherapy against her own will, and that of her mother who supports her daughter's choice.
“Following a hearing at which Cassandra’s doctors testified, the trial
court ordered that she be removed from her home and that she remain in
DCF’s care and custody,” read court documents. “The court also authorized DCF to make all necessary medical decisions on Cassandra’s behalf.”
After Cassandra had a portion of her lymph node surgically removed at
the hospital, mother and daughter left "to seek a second opinion."
Fortin said they were going to consult with doctors in another state —
but the local doctors, who are mandated reporters, called the DCF and
raised an issue of parental medical neglect. The DCF went to Superior
Court and won temporary custody and permission to proceed with the

In Colorado
Four cases of pneumonic plague in Colorado... and, nothing. Pneumonic plague is the most dangerous variant of Y. Pestis as it can be spread from person to person whereas bubonic and septicemic plague requires a transmission vector such as the flea. The Colorado case supposedly was transferred from Prairie Dog to pet dog, to owner. In the Colorado case only the dog is reported to have died.
Cooperative Medicine
In China the New Rural Cooperative Medical Care System covers roughly 80% of the population. The cost is 50 Yuan per person ($7) per year, of that 20 is paid by the central government, 20 by the provincial government and only 10 ($1.61) by the individual.
But hey, everybody's covered.
On another note, the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia struck down the federal subsidy for those enrolled in the states that are using the federal exchange. Of course, this is just a technicality.

Saturated Fat Doesn't Cause Heart Disease
Say What?
A Cambridge University study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine rebukes 40 years of advice.
There is no link between saturated fat and heart disease.
"Healthy" polyunsaturated fats don't prevent heart disease.
The dairy fat, Margaric Acid "significantly reduces" the risk of heart disease,
Omega 3 fatty acids EPA and DHA along with Omega 6 arachidonic acid reduces risk but Omega-3 and Omega-6 supplements showed no benefit.
Poor diet driven by the over consumption of processed foods is responsible for more than physical inactivity, alcohol, and smoking.
