Obamazymandias |
He's peddling old, stale, failed ideas that have screwed us so far in the ground we may never get out, and the debt progressivism has wracked up at all levels of government is frightening. Where's his plan? Where are Democrat ideas? They are intellectually bankrupt.
Lies and shouty smears are all this president has left.
The worshipful sand sculpture of him washing away in the rain is an apt metaphor:
"My name is Obamazymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.'

Zing!
Love the connection with Shelley's classic poem.
We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar
Shape without form, shade without colour,
Paralysed force, gesture without motion;
Those who have crossed
With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom
Remember us - if at all - not as lost
Violent souls, but only
As the hollow men
The stuffed men.
T.S. Eliot
This site is a Charter Member of The Empty Chair Movement and celebrating National Empty Chair Day.
This replaces Labor Day because there are No Jobs.
I'll be damned. So he is white, after all.
Eastwood may very well have sealed the deal for Romney. I saw that people are planning to put empty chairs in their front yards all over the country tomorrow to emphasize that Obama is an empty suit.
And I guess that Eastwood's shtick wasn't a failed joke as the Libs are saying all over the boards.
We have Clint Eastwood and they have Bill Maher and Jane Fonda.. I'd say that's a pretty good trade off. The Liberals have a great really reason to have their panties in a bunch this time..
“We own this country . . . Politicians are employees of ours . . . And when somebody does not do the job, we’ve got to let them go.” –Clint Eastwood
Bizarre? No it was Brilliant!
That was one of the best, and truthful things I have ever heard.
Thank you Mr. Eastwood for saying what needed to be said
They may have no ideas or ammo left; but they still count on the ignorance of the American vvoter. I think they are in for a surprise.
Clint made my night. "This is our country and the elected are our employees, and if they FAIL at their job, we have to let them go!"
I thought that was brilliant.
This seems to be the biggest story to come out of the Republican's Convention
That mock empty chair debate will be no match for Paul Ryan debating Joe Biden's empty head.
In a "Colombo style", the lefttards never got what Clint was all about.
Eastwood's rude routine was one of the saddest things that I've ever seen in my life. It was not only insulting but he came across as that crotchety, mean OLD uncle that you hope never shows up at any of your family functions.
He came across as sad and pathetic!
If the Eastwood speech and empty chair stunts sway people - or 'seal the deal' - for Romney...then we truly deserve the governments we get.

Does the "Put Y'all back in Chains" speech do it for ya"
[Does the "Put Y'all back in Chains" speech do it for ya"]
Nope, sure doesn't.
Man, the left is SO afraid of Eastwood's words that they have to insult his persona. What makes me cringe is how the left totally insulted Bush and now think it wasn't right for Eastwood to poke fun at Obama! My gosh.
Even Blitzer was unhinged over that.
Wait till the big football stadium DNC night with Obama and Biden; It'll be AMAZING! The camera people, in my opinion, made the RNC venue look like it maybe sat 5,000....they'll make the football stadium look like Valhalla. Wait for it. They'll be comparing the amount of black faces (msnbc avoided catching any on their coverage of the RNC though there were many captured by other channels, by the way)...
Yup, the DNC will have plenty of minorities in the audience; the RNC can be proud to say we have ELECTED MINORITIES WHO SPOKE BRILLIANTLY on the STAGE. Big difference, no?
one more thing; after what Obama's done, I'm thinking LAST CENTURY doesn't sound so bad.
FT, good for you for the chair...we can't put political things outside, either ;-( But a CHAIR? How can they complain?!!
Constitutional: The left is committing a deliberate category error, treating Eastwood's performance as a serious political speech when it was a piece of art.
Eastwood is an independent thinker, he's more libertarian that Republican, and he wasn't going to go out there and blatantly shill for Romney, when at best he only agrees with the campaign's economic plans.
I think he's just disgusted with Obama, and being an actor and director, he chose his way to say so.
Only the stodgy plonkers on the left didn't "get it," because it wasn't the state-sponsored humor they were used to and there was no laugh track to give them cues on what the approved funny bits were.
It's sad really...
The Romney campaign is simply swatting aside the media's objections to its welfare ad and Obama’s Cancer blaming ad, and character assaults: And that's not going to be good enough. We're not going to let our campaign be dictated by a bunch of liberal "fact-checkers," who quote those progressive ridden web-sites.
We need you Mr. Romney to save our freedoms....our constitution .... our nation! You are literally a god send at the right time. Make us proud of you!
It's time to pull out the stops and get tough Mitt and make sure you win for all Americans
Clint is your big issue days after it happened.
This is why you (Romney) lose.
Really Steve? Who's talking about Obama today?
*crickets*
Everyone
He just gave a Labor Day speech
Romney has no plan for Labor Day.
News is covering Obama, not Romney
Republiscums don't celebrate a workers Holiday.
Another speech...
I'm sure the millions unemployed by Obamanomics were comforted...
Celebrating workers on Labor Day, is not something Republiscums do.
They are having an "Empty Chair Day" celebration.
Just shows how out of touch they are with Americans, and the lack of respect they have for workers.
When you lose, will you deny all the lies you have been spreading about Democrats?
Polls just in:
Romney got no boost from his convention speech.
Worse speech by a Republiscum during their convention since Dole.
Democrats celebrate workers by throwing them out of work and persecuting the job creators.
Look at Obama's horrible jobs record. He's still down, the only president with a net loss of jobs over his term.
If this is how he "celebrates" the worker, I hope he doesn't decide to celebrate me.
Yeah Steve... Labor Day is celebration of labor just like Veterans Day is a celebration of veterans, Christmas Day is a celebration of Christ, and you give thanks on Thanksgiving.
As if.
Of course, the irony of an Obama speech on Labor Day is lost on you, isn't it?
"Job creators" your funny
If cutting taxes created jobs, we would be swimming in jobs by now.
Taxes have continually been cut since 1982, but the largest number of jobs created under a president, was under Clinton, and he was the only President to raise taxes in the last 30 years
How have taxes been continually cut since 1982 if Clinton raised taxes?
Hmm.... New Math!
oooo..that IS an amazing irony; hadn't put those together but how can they not be?
he has a lot of nerve.
SF - "The left is committing a deliberate category error, treating Eastwood's performance as a serious political speech when it was a piece of art."
Art? I like Clint...but Art? That is certainly convenient.
He had some good points, but the fact remains that the attention his speech is still getting versus the base being fired up over Romney....shows that it's an empty chair versus an empty suit in November.

He did generate a lot of buzz. It remains to be seen what the affect will be. The lefties are still screaming, so it must have been powerful stuff.
As for Romney, let's face it, he's not an exciting guy, but he has a record and he has plans, making him an attractive alternative to Obama.
I understand why you don't like him and I'm not busting on those of you who are voting Johnson. Just explaining where I'm coming from.
Empty chais are getting more and better news coverage than Obama today...
...as if that should surprise anyone,
@SF - "As for Romney, let's face it, he's not an exciting guy, but he has a record and he has plans, making him an attractive alternative to Obama."
For me it's not even that. Since our political process has devolved into a hybrid of TMZ and American Idol, I would much rather have a bland technocrat who's sole plan was to administer the country as a fiscal conservative and protect the liberties of all Americans.
Romney is barely distinguishable from Obama on nearly every front. I'd give him a nod on economics [more so if he articulated a specific plan]; he's a wash with Obama on foreign policy; and he's a few bars lower on the civil liberties front.
Romney is simply more of the status quo. It's both perplexing and a bit amusing to me, to watch all of the energy being expended in the attempt to make him seem like a real alternative.
I know Romney's not you're dream pick either....but that's my perspective on the 'choice' in November.
FYI, on Facebook this picture is a bit more completed, however, the person taking the picture noticed a cat taking a poopy break on Obama.
See, animals are smart.

Another clever comment from a Dingbat Dingaling.
"Happy Labor Day everyone and let's remember the Progressive On Labor Day, GOP Leadership Celebrates Management
"Today, we celebrate those who have taken a risk, worked hard, built a business and earned their own success." Eric Cantor.
Today the nation celebrates Labor Day, a holiday “dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.
http://thinkprogress.org/econo...
Democrats that gave us the weekend, 8-hour workday, paid vacations, sick days, unemployment comp, minimum wage, overtime pay, safety standards, retirement security, child labor laws, health benefits, etc and also remember the Conservative Republicans who vigorously fought against all those benefits. We'll remember them in November too."
thenk you Santa Claus Democrats for the $16 trillion national debt and for borrowing 40% of every federal dollar spent during every year of Obama's term.
We're broke now...how much money you going to stuff in the UNs pocket next year?
And the rEpublican new neo fascist party has what to offer exactly that will save us from the BS both parties have had a share in heaping upon the nation over these past 100 years or so.
Exactly what is the significant PRACTICAL difference? Hyperbole and platitudes aside.
Inquiring minds want to know...
My God! Barack has turned into a pillar of salt!
Sure looks like i anyway.
Free Thinke...BRILLIANT observation...very good! Thanks a "LOT" :-) (sorrrryyyy!)
It's a bizarre looking effort to be kind. If built by Obama's opponents, I'm sure it would have been branded as racist.
Had we elected John McCain, we'd have had a nominal president and the Democrats probably would have controlled the congress throughout. That's the way is always works.
Obama has managed to bring us some good works, on student loans, credits cards, civil rights, healthcare, immigration, and support for the millions of people who suffered from the mismanagement of the Republican one-party state.
So go ahead and be crazy. Keep pretending the "progressives" are running things. It must be fun (or really weird and scary) to live in such a fantasy land. Keep repeating the same mistakes, and keep believing in the same insipid demagogues.
The Obama administration has a ton more intellectual gravitas than that.
JMJ
Leticia,
the person taking the picture noticed a cat taking a poopy break on Obama
That's funny! I don't doubt it.
FT,
My God! Barack has turned into a pillar of salt!
If only!
JMJ,
The student-loans debacle is the next "housing bubble." Watch for it.
Jmj, Obama's administration may have a ton more gravitas but it sure as hell has very little common sense.
The Obama administration has a ton more intellectual gravitas than that.
Valerie Jarrett has gravitas? Who knew?
